I expect good mileage and am getting it. Just got back from running errands, all stop and go city, averaged 22mpg both ways...

I'm getting 22 average also, have a heavy foot at times too. Quiet ride, shifts smooth and certainly more refined. Loved my 13 trd off road but, my 16 trd sport is simply better. As mentioned in an earlier post you can set the tire size yourself on the head unit. I hope he did that...

Yep, it was a 350. I guess I was thinking of the Cleveland in my Gran Torino back in the day. :)

Should not be redlining on the freeway like he mentioned, something must be wrong.

You think the computer would know if you set it to 245s and ran 315s?

So mud terrains, not calculating for larger tires in his distance travelled, doing 80mph on the highway, and then complaining about only 17mpg??

What I've found, especially with new model vehicles, is it takes some time to get the computer programming right on the transmission and shift points. I had my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee re-programmed 3 times before they got the shift points in the software correct. I'd expect the same from Toyota. People will complain and the developers will update & optimize the software that controls shifting and it will get better. Just my .02

My '16 has averaged 19mpg for the first 800 miles. It also tries to stay around 2,000 rpm even at 80mph when ECT is disabled. Get the computer checked out.
