I imagine it's a fun little car to drive, too, with that triple carb setup. Are they rigged in series?

 

What's funny is, they're OEM for the higher end packages, including the FX4. Talk about a useless tire for off roading... They wouldn't even hold traction on wet pavement, no way I was going to take them into the winter.

For me, I really like the stock Michelins, I'd save up and buy them again. I just didn't like the wheels but I'll go back for function over form.

They'll be in craigslist by the afternoon. It only took 2 rainstorms and watching my traction control kick on constantly to make me want to get rid of them. I almost lost my back end around a corner in the rain, wasn't going that fast, the tires just lost grip. I bought the set cheap enough where hopefully I can get my money back out of them.

Oh yeah, I'm supposed to bribe you and Jen to come back to the TW crew. We need help!

Drove to my grandparent's house in Milbridge (by way of Farmington to pick up my kid brother) and back this weekend, and I'm about 30 miles away from a 400 mile tank, with about 1/8th of a tank still showing on the needle. And that includes a pretty decent stretch on the highway at 85mph, too. On winter blend gas!

 

It's a fun car to drive - however, they don't build old cars for a reason... The carbs are progressive on the outers. Kick in about 1/3 to 1/2 in.

I hear you there. Love my '69 and it's a ton of fun to drive, but there's a reason they don't put leaves on front suspensions anymore.

Edit- And why they put more sound-dampening materials in the cabs, and have power steering, and power brakes, and disc brakes....

 

They still do on heavy duty trucks. Say what you want but the older vehicles were much simpler and overbuilt vs today's vehicles.

 

Simpler, absolutely. Progress is a mixed bag in my eyes.

For sure. But I suspect they're not overly concerned about ride quality on those trucks.

And I'm definitely a fan of using older vehicles for real work.
1/2 a cord of green firewood in the back of the '84 half ton. If I tried to put that in my Tacoma the springs would have exploded. On the Dodge they weren't even touching the bumpstops.

When customers demand a loaner car for an oil change, burn a quarter tank and don't refill it, then crash your car into their garage....

 

^^^ That's when dealerships like loan car company's charge the customer triple what it costs to fix the damage!

 

So while changing my oil last week I noticed the pass diff was wet where the half shaft comes out. I did some quick searching and was wondering if anybody here could confirm my fear. Diff seal? Both sides look the same.
