The single AAL is just that, it is a single leaf installed in your existing leaf pack. The progressive AAL is 3 leaf mini pack installed in your existing leaf pack. The progressive AAL progressively builds resistance as it is compressed, so it initially compresses easier giving a better ride. The single leaf pack will be very stiff to compress from the beginning giving a harsher ride.

3" at first but it's settled a bit so probably about 2.75". The 885s put you at 2.5"

What coil do you recommend for a DCSB 2WD?

887s for ~3" I don't think the weight difference from 2 to 4wd will make much difference... If you contact @HeadStrong Off-Road I'm sure Marie will help you out with any questions or concerns you might be having. She was very helpful when I was going through this whole process.

I had 887s before and they gave me over 3 inches of lift. I wouldn't recommend them for your purposes especially not without aftermarket upper control arms.

Did anyone with 3" of lift extend their brake lines? Curious because I remember reading (and writing down somewhere) that I needed to do that when I end up lifting.

You aren't going to get a softer feel with three inches of lift at a 1k price point. You might, might, be able to get to get a stockish feel at three inches of lift at a 2-3k price point doing all of the install yourself. IMNSHO.

Depends on what lenghth, collapsed and extended, shocks you go with in the back and how much droop you can get out of the leaves. The front is pretty safe with any extended travel, not long travel, coilover you can find as the cv-joint or ball/uniball joint will bind before the brake lines do. Most of the time.

ETA: It depends on your set up and the only way to be sure is to take your own measurements and cycle it all your self. But you are pretty safe with OME lift as they seem to limit all the down travel to be safe with all other components being stock.

Is this for a 2wd or 4wd? Any 3"+ lift you get besides a spindle lift(for 2wd) will have "alignment issues" with stock control arms.

If you're 2wd your best bet is a spindle lift and a 3 leaf AAL. You'll probably even have money left for a new set of shocks.

If you're 4wd you better factor in the cost of UCA's because any 3"+ lift you pick will require them if you don't want the "alignment issues" you mentioned. SPC(light racing) UCA's can be found for $375.

    Good afternoon Wally!

I find it very helpful to supply our customers with a list of coil specifications so they can compare the coils side-by-side. It is always hard to guarantee the exact lift height because so many variables come into play. The largest being the over all weight of the truck. Each truck varies based on model/trim. For instance a 2wd weighs less then a 4wd and a access cab less then a double cab. For example a double cab 4x4 will gain approx. 2.5" of lift from the 885X coils whereas a double cab 2wd can gain approx. 3" of lift from the same coil. Also sometimes when taking before and after measurements customers will yield more lift then advertised or expected. That can be attributed to the ware and tear on the factory components. If the truck is 10 years old and has 100k+ miles on it then the lift coil might seem to provide more lift in that instance then it will on a brand new truck. This is simple due to the condition of the factory parts being worn in. The same is true when measuring lift from replacement leaf packs and add-a-leafs. Please let me know if there is anything that I can help you out with.

Eibach 112-620 coils 620lb spring rate 381mm in length
Eibach 52-1600 lift coils 610 lbs spring rate 391 mm in length
OME 883 coils 590 lbs spring rate 375 mm in length
OME 884 coils 590 lbs spring rate 390 mm in length
OME 885 Coils 590 lbs spring rate 395 mm in length
OME 886 coils 660 lb spring rate 402 mm in length
OME 887 coils 590 spring rate 400 mm in length

From what I hear, on the second gen trucks the difference is so negligible, it's not worth spending the money and effort on.
