    I don't really care one way or the other that it has one-I wouldn't complain about it like some do. It's removable for a reason. Store it until you sell it. I could see having it for some folks especially those that see huge numbers of highway miles. People are always talking up functional mods. Well, this thing is functional for some. That said, I'd probably pull mine off if I had a 16 :)

    Pulled mine off the morning after I bought it. Made truck look like low-rider in my opinion. Next I'm going to paint the skid same color as truck

    Is it a bolt-on for the TRD Off Road? Or do you have to hack it up?

    I test drove a Sport (6MT!), and the skewp was ungodly distracting (although paint was white; glare in my face). The long hood is bad enough without the skewp in your face.

    I pulled mine off and wasn't impressed with the hard bits hanging off the side of the frame, not sure if that was where they intended hooks to go on the off road version or not. What an odd thing to see though and they are definitely visible, wouldn't have bothered me much if it didn't look like something was missing.

    I put it back on for the time being, just not sure if I want to see it atm. My 4R has hooks in that general area, but funny how on the taco they actually stick out from the frame (what you see is a square chunk poking out on both sides). It looks like they can be removed, just haven't did any research to see if I can buy hooks for that area or not or why those particular "chunks" exist. First time taco owner, so excuse the cluelessness on the subject. Having said all that, I don't care about the drop in mpg either as I'd rather reclaim the clearance and show off the very obvious difference between the taco and it's competitors (front end clearance).

    To anyone talking about how much they don't like the dam, are you aware that the dam only decreases the approach angle from 31 to 29 degrees and does not decrease ground clearance? Anything you hit with that dam is gonna hit your truck. It's not a flat piece of plastic like every other truck.

    If you don't like the aesthetics then by all means, take it off! Nothing wrong with that. After all this, forum is largely about modding our rides. I like the look. My only beef is arguing that it ruins off road capability. It was a good move for Toyota to make.

    Do you know if it would give you any gain in MPG??

    The aerodynamics of the 2 gens are very different, you may not see any results at all.

    Dams will almost always provide an mpg boost, they simply redirect airflow over the truck. The 3rd Gen dam may not be the absolute best shape to compliment the Gen 2 but it will improve aerodynamics nonetheless.

    I have seen the TRD Sports (only TRD to come from factory with the Dam) get better MPG than the TRD OR (without the Dam). I too am thinking of picking it up for my TRD OR. I wonder how much the dealer will have them for though....
