Laughed my way out of the dealership

I bought an OEM set for my 2012 Sport. I had broke my ankles in a construction accident and figured they could help.
They made entry/exit worse. I removed and sold them within weeks.

 

Exactly^. They only get in the way of getting in or out.

 

Yes-- at the same time the people that complain the most would end up buying. Its the ones that like to talk theory that I would not waste my time with.

 

My little kids needed the slightly reduced step to get into the truck. Not a huge fan, but happy kids = happy wife = happy life.

 

In Metro Atlanta I was quoted invoice pricing (or around there, $36,500) for a 4x4 TRD off-road with technology package by the internet sales team just by filling out the online form (Cherokee County Toyota). Here is a copy of the email they sent 20 minutes after filling out their form.

Should be. Makes sense out here (I am in SC). In So Cal-- totally different Tacoma market; used to live there. Soooo much desert off roading in SoCal.

 

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be. The sales manager has also contacted me directly to make sure that the internet sales department had been in touch.

Why WOULDN'T they sell a truck at invoice pricing that hasn't even been made yet? If I had customers calling me willing to pre-pay (or in this case commit to buy) for a product that I haven't even produced yet I'd be happy to take a thinner margin. If nothing else it allows me to reduce the COGS and operating expenses for every other one I make. New car dealers are more and more simply warranty repair shops and brokers for manufacturers and their finance divisions.

Not around here they won't.

They'll try and sell you a 2013 with 30k miles on it for $36k and then wonder why you won't buy it when there is a new 2015 next to it for $1k more.

Same here, and that is how I wound up with a new 2015. It was actually cheaper than a used one since I was able to get a better interest rate.

No spam, I've been a member here for years. I'm just sharing the pricing I was quoted since that seems to be what this thread is about now.

 

Without the destination charge SE Toyota charges. I don't see that going away or being negotiated out of it. Even NADA includes that in their invoice pricing.

The only discrepancy I can find between the dealer quote and the NADA quote is the price of the cover and tow package.
