A friend made a good point when talking about that. Since all of Toyota's hybrids really help with their CAFE standards, they really don't need to make the trucks fuel efficient.

True, but it would give toyota a competitive advantage over the competition. Either way, I have zero buyers remorse and love the truck

The access cab is too small for a family or friends or anyone but my wife

I wish I would have bought a first get Tundra with 4 doors.

So instead I got my wife to agree to me buying a brand new tundra with double cab or crewmax and keep the Tacoma as a trail rig.

    Did you say Horse power?
We own a family statuary business and I haul heavy concrete pots, birdbaths, fountains, garden furniture, etc. about every other week. I've had up to 2,000 pounds in the back hauling 4 concrete benches. Drove 140 miles that way with no issues. On one corner I learned something new though...a light on the dash popped on that told me I was overloaded! Never seen that on a truck before...LOL. The taco works well for small loads. If we have larger loads we either use the 3/4 ton chevy Duramax or the flatbed. The load below was only about 900 pounds and no wheelie.20150801_101558.jpg

Not many since 08. Only thing I can think of is wasting $ on Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrains. Terrible traction in everything and wore out fast. Also welding my sliders angled up a little to high and out. catch my leg on them every time I get out because I still forget their there and not ideal spot to use as a step. Work well for what I bought them for though, protection. No complaints on actual truck.

Love my 13 DC till I got home and realized no garage door opener. I knew there were less options going into it on the taco, but with it having GPS and pretty much all other options, Wtf toyota.
I would've looked closer at the nissan if I had known. I know a small mod can be done, but really?
Oh and ;fucknochevyhere; this is coming from a guy that has had chevy's for over 30 yrs. I'm done.
Otherwize, I'm pretty happy with it.

Not getting the tow package. I was trying to get a Baja, and they were very hard to find in Ohio. The dealer would call me to let me know one was coming in, and by the time I got back to them it was gone. I finally found the exact truck that I was looking for - black Baja AC auto - but it only has the dealer installed Toyota hitch and 4-pin connector. It's the same class as the tow package hitch (and it looks exactly the same as my friend's tow package hitch), so decided that I could just add everything else myself if I ever started towing on a regular basis. Then U-Haul refused to rent me a car trailer because my my hitch sticker says 5000 lbs. Then I found out how expensive it would be to buy parts for the factory oil cooler. Then I got trailer brake wiring envy... Oh well. I still love the truck and am happy to have a lift from the factory. I can always go aftermarket for coolers, and there are plenty of alternator and battery options out there.

I was also pissed that you could only get the good stereo and sat-nav in a double cab. I don't want a double cab or a short bed, and don't understand why the manufacturers only offer the goodies on the 4 door trucks. This is not limited to Toyota either. So I knew up front that I would either have to live with a crappy stereo or go aftermarket. Of course, the "good" stereo isn't all that good either, so I'm okay with this choice. I use my phone for navigation and have a Garmin that we take on road trips for areas where cell coverage is spotty. I Bluetooth Pandora and other audio from my phone on the road, and rock out at home when I want sound quality.

When we want luxury we take my wife's car.

They do if they want to keep selling trucks. Right now gas is relatively affordable, when it hits $4+ a gallon again and Toyota's midsize truck can't beat a Ram 1500 Hemi for mpg their sales will suffer. I seem to net a bit better mpg than average with my double cab offroad at 20-21 mpg but for three quarters of a real truck that isn't very good. That being said I knew it going in since I had a 05' TRD offroad access cab in 04' when they came out....that one was a manual transmission and barely squeaked 21 mpg driving it easy. I'm glad I went with the auto this time, it feels like a dog but on cold mornings it still shifts well...my 05' was a two handed shift on cold mornings.

It is true. They figured out how much I owed after the down payment. Calculated the interest on that over five years and added it to the loan amount. Next time some one wants to do a double payment call up tfs and tell them you want to do a double payment towards the principle an not the interest. They will tell you that a certain amount of each payment always goes to the interest.

Or better yet call tfs and ask them. Maybe it isn't always like that, but it was for me. And it's not because I did a low down payment. I put nearly half the after tax price of the truck down.

I sure could use that long bed option. I like the MGM color too. I looked at two dcsb MGMs. One had 30k miles and the dealer wanted $30k for the truck. The other had nearly 50k and the dealer wanted $26k. Got my silver dcsb for $25k and <7k miles.

You would have looked closer at Nissan if you would have "known" there was no integrated garage door opener? Really?

i was originally financed through tfs(long story, i got my truck across the state bla bla) shortly after that i refinanced through a local bank. The local bank needed the ten day payoff amount from tfs. This indicated that the local bank needed the payoff amount, including any interest that would accrue within ten days, to pay toyota. So the loan was not a "total" amount, with all interest included upfront. Maybe your loan was different. I didn't even know doing that was legal.

It's legal if you sign the contract agreeing to it.

Again I can not guarantee every loan through tfs is like that, but I do know mine was, and I strongly suspect most are. Before I scheduled automatic payments through my bank I used to call tfs and pay doubles. I would tell them I wanted it all to go to principle and not the the interest. The person would always say a certain amount has to go to interest as it is figured into the loan. I will challenge any person here with a current tfs loan to call tfs and see. I will be relying on them be honest as there is no way for me to verify, but I will say in my case that is the way it was as I understood and it proved out, and I am not one to be dishonest in the money department.
