There are some spots on that trail that I would not want to be on if it were wet.

I went in dry conditions, and we had an epic accident (to be fair it was up on a pass above Moonlight Lake), my friend almost lost his arm. Nothing a shirt and a shoelace couldn't fix until we got him to the ER though. Picture to follow, if no one is squeamish.

He handled it like a champ, and hiked out 6 miles. I carried most of his gear out, one of the more challenging hikes out I've done.

Moral of the story, know your skill level.

oh man. That's bad! Yea, I heard moonlight was a bit of climbing involved and there are 2 trails that lead to baboon. one has sharp rocks and requires some scambling and the newer trail is more flat. I don't recall any parts of the trail that are difficult just to Blue Lake, but accidents can happen. Some of us that are going are training to hike the W trek in Patagonia so the weather will help them get use to what they may encounter there.

    Hope you buddy was ok.

He recovered fine. There's only way to learn, and that's to go out and do it! Take it slow and keep your eyes open. It's a beautiful area.

Yea it is. Blue lake is only about 3mi in. So if it gets too unbareble it's not too far to hike back out.

This Jetboil thing makes great hot water...

Actually it's going to be awesome. Just testing it out in the back yard.
