    The better coast
Used vehicles for sale in an area is very dependent on the area, what dealers are around and type of people.

    Really...

2015 F150 SC SB = ~4750 lbs depending on the engine
2015 DCLB Tacoma (same lengthish as the F150 above) = ~4480 lbs

So less that 300 lbs of weight difference between the two and how much more power in the F150....

The Aluminum F150 is light as hell for a fullsize. I think the Diesel Colorado LB might actually out weigh a 2015 F150 SC SB.

From Toyota.com: Taco 4x4 SR5 Double Cab Short Bed curb weight: 4425 lbs

Ford's web page doesn't show curb weight for anything other than the regular cab. It says that for the regular cab 4x4, the min curb weight is 4300 lbs. The double cab variant is undoubtedly going to weigh another 500 lbs. See: http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/view-all/

Well it's not a Chevy but my 96 bronco has just under 170K on the original motor/trans/transfer case front / rear end and unlike many toyoyas it's original frame. Bought it from the original owner who replaced the battery and thermostat along with routine services. Probably not typical with all fords but I've owned 3 ford trucks and would have bought a F 150 instead of the Tacoma if I didn't want a mid sized truck when I picked up the taco.

Had my front dif replaced 2X under 80k on my taco. Glad east coast gear has a fix....

No fix for the bushing and joint issues on the H3T, or the people I know really like changing front end components.

True but it still needed a trip to the dealer and was a pain to get it covered under warranty the first time and the second time it was out of pocket. Now that said I was stupid to allow Toyota to put another bearing in instead of doing the ECGS fix. And your right, it's not nearly as bad as replacing the dif

Yeah, I guess we late adopters of the 2nd gens ended up spoiled when we just installed the bushing at the first sign of trouble. Then again, you rarely hear of issues before people lift the truck, so it's hard to be mad at Toyota when we are the ones taking things out of spec IMHO.

Mine did it with oversized tires (out of spec like you said)and no lift, after the first dif replacement I went mid travel and replaced it again.... Now that it's LT it seams to be doing a lot better with the bushing. But it makes so many noises now I probably wouldn't notice LOL, now that is all on me, LT trucks make a few noises!
Also I agree some things are not toyotas fault, like the addition of gussets on the 07 motor mounts. Mine never failed but I did have them gusseted by DMZ

Then we are comparing them differently. I am comparing them by wheel base length. A Super Cab is similar in size to a crew cab Taco, even interior room...While nothing in the Taco line compares to a Crew Cab Ford.
    image.jpg
This is the super cab which has similar interior room as the Taco crew cab.
The prices wouLd be closer obviously but only if they were optioned the same too. This is why Ford just doesn't make a midsize. Except for durability, off road which we Taco fan boys rate higher, it is a better buy to other truck buyers.....just my take ;-)

Have you seen the muffler hanging down below the skid plate on the 2016? Don't think that is going to work well off road!

You are looking a one part of the undercarriage. The exhaust system different form othe underbody parts is suspended on carriers. They are suppose to flex when hit. Exhaust systems on all vehicles will tend to be lower.

I just drove a GMC Canyon Crew Cab Short Box. It's a great looking truck, but I have to say, I was not very impressed at all. I know it's not apples to apples, but I stopped at the Toyota dealer down the road to see if they had a '16, they didn't, but I drove a '16 4R SR5 Premium. Once again, the Runner felt much more solid all around and more powerful than the GM. I had this same experience when testing a Colorado, then a 4R, a few weeks ago.

I am still waiting to dive a '16 Taco...I have seen a few, but haven't driven one. In my opinion, neither of the GM twins felt better then the 2nd Taco, and not even close to the Runner.

As for reliability...who knows...that's a crap shoot anyway you look at it.

Each and every car from different manufacturers has diffenrt characteristics and only you can decide which best fits your personality and needs. No two people want the same thing from a car. Reliability IS a crap shoot but even playing craps, there are always things you can do to put the odds in your favor. I read consumer reports and tend to buy brands that have been regarded well in their surveys. You may use a different method. Mine has served me well because their results are not subject to distortions by the manufacture. Of course, they are subject to CRs distortion so it only works if your goals are the same.
