Especially on long trips. We went on a 26 hour drive to go wheeling and did almost all of it straight through. So it was nice being able to switch drivers to get some sleep with the truck being an AT. It wouldn't have been an option if it was an MT

Screw that, i'll hate on them. I LOVE a good manual transmission, but the MT in the 2nd gen is horrendous offroad. The low gear just isn't anywhere near where a low gear should be. The only way it is going to make it over some obstacles is speed, or extreme riding of the clutch. besides the additional maintenance that causes, I really don't want to have to replace a clutch out on a trail. Granted this is on the 2nd gen, I'm kinda doubting they did much about it in the 3rd.

I kind of like mine in the dirt, but I don't intentionally go rock crawling either. I did break my clutch foot and have to drive myself to the hospital about 5 years ago. I made it there by starting it in gear, shifting with no clutch. I came up to a light and just turned the motor off, then started it in gear when the light turned green. About 10 years ago I was shifting from second into third while bouncing off the rev limiter. The syncro let go and somehow the taco was stuck in third gear. I drove to work in 4lo, but I made it. Other than those two incidents, I have never wished I had an auto in the taco.

but ran a trail with a VT FJ, a built Defender from IL and a local Rover (our trusted leader for saturday) which ran portions of the VOT which was definitely fun...

then sunday kayla and i went with the other VT FJ and explored some areas i was eyeing on the map...turned out to be some great trails and really got me looking forward to exploring more of the area

met some good people at the event, a few old faces and many new...some sweet rigs there for sure...a 70-series troopy expo build, newish Hilux and Prado (actually registered in the US too  ), handful of nice 60-series rigs, a super clean unimog, bunch of old Defenders and Rovers...

Sounds like a great time! I need to plant the seed with my wife now to get it locked in for next year! I think I've met the guy with the Unimog before, he's a local mechanic from around here if it's who I'm thinking of. Thanks for the recap, I definitely missed out!

Can any of you people with awning rooms that attach to your awnings tell us what kind you have and how they attach? I have a Fiamma F35Pro and I'm looking for something to attach to it other than what Fiamma offers. When I've asked dealers of other brands I've pretty much always gotten "it attaches to the thing" as an answer. I imagine that many don't know as they simply don't sell many of them, or drop ship everything. The Fiamma awning room attaches via a captured cord that you slide into a channel - above the phillips head screw - as you can see on the top left of this end piece/rod holder.

I was checking out one made by Tepui but can't tell how it attaches either. Sadly all my "normal business hours" time is being spent in hospital these days and I can't make calls to sort it out.

    Thanks for your help.

Can anyone recommend a good brand of locking HD Drawer Sliders/Rollers that are rated 400+ lbs AND Weatherproof? I added a basket shelf not long ago, but recently added a set of rails on either side of my bed rack. Now it is a big PITA to access the basket from the sides and I think I now need to add a slide to it. I was looking at something like these, which seemed like a good deal @ about $200, but they are not weatherproof. Thanks.

Thanks @DoorDing , what model did you get? How tall are they? I like the 48" ones, but they don't say how tall they are. Good deal though, I appreciate the link!

@DoorDing , sorry, I meant your HD Drawer Rails.

Never mind though, I'm blind and found the height after rereading the specs. doh

I have the ARB 6ft with the screen walls, It has a piece that slides into the front of the awning track, much like what you have on yours. However it's got a zipper so I can leave it on when storing the awning. The walls have one side that slide into a track on the main awning mount. Then the opposite side connects to the zipper piece I mentioned. And the sides have clips that clip onto the awning poles.
