No mud flaps on...

So tell me ...Why does Toyota always put mud flaps on their trucks,,but the big three doesn't......

 

Depends where you are really... I don't see any trucks sold here without mudflaps... Even most cars have mud guards.

 

Mud flaps definately saved me once. Was pitting for a race on the dry lake bed in Jean,NV durring a storm. So the dry lake wasn't so dry haha. I've since taken them off. Just put back in the plastic clips where the holes are. Just not a fan of the look.

 

I'd like to hear more on this. I think mudflaps help a lot with rocker panel rust, that's why you never see the rocker panels on tacomas rusted out like other trucks. That's just a guess though

 

The first thing I did when I bought my truck was remove them.

 

I want to remove mine but I'm worried about paint chipping and rust. Have you had any issues?

I'm thinking about trimming mine, I've already almost torn them off twice and it's only been two months

 

None that I notice, but I've never really looked either. Washed the truck once, last spring, and it is all scratched up from trails. If it gets chipped and rusts in the future, oh-well.

 

Big Three makes mudflaps an option. Run mudflaps unless you want your rocker panels to look like this:

i get shit for leaving mine stock length, but after lifting 2 in all around they hardly scrape unless really flexed (and at that point im going slow) and they offer great protection. And when the weather gets nasty they do a damn good job at keeping the truck looking decent.

 

That's one of the First things I did to mine was take them off. Here in Texas where I am nothing has mud flaps on it except for due-lies. After I pulled them off I told the guys I run with that I had pulled them off, and they all said they had never noticed them, but the 4x4 in white letters on the back
was too much for me.

Ahhhh.....But....... that car has mud flaps on it......LOL!!!

 

Also, running without flaps is illegal in some states. Here in MT, we have some of the most relaxed laws about what is considered a street legal vehicle - especially 4x4s - but mudflaps are written into the law. Even with flaps, my tires throw big rocks and shit into my rocker panels all day long.

 

IMHO those RB flaps look like a middle school project
