Any one in the South Carolina area? I am going to a wedding on Dec. 20 and want to show up a few days early and get some fishing in.

Greenville is the wedding but I will have time to go just about anywhere. Considering all I have is freshwater in Wyoming, getting into some saltwater would be awesome!

Good luck. If you stay in Greenville and west or north, you'll be ok. Everywhere else. seems to have a water problem. As in, way too much water right now.

The same shit everyone else has.
Back story, I purchased a pair of Cabelas brand convertible stocking foot waders at the beginning of the year because the deal was too good to pass up. They were awesome, at first. No issues with them. Comfortable, leak free, ect. I followed the instructions with cleaning them and they worked great. Fast forward about 8 months or so. They started leaking live a sieve. All the seams started splitting and leaking. I Aquaseal'd them. Washed and treated them with Nikwax Techwash and spray on waterproofing. It helped, but they still arent perfect. Kinda pissed off I wasted all that time and money with such an inferior product. If I would have known they would have failed in less than a year, I would have never bought them.

    Anywho.

Orvis is currently doing their "Fall Orvis Days" and I recently received a 20% off coupon in the mail. Ive been eyeballing their Silver Sonic convertible waders - http://www.orvis.com/p/silver-sonic-convertible-top-waders/5h5e - for a while now and Im really thinking about pulling the trigger on a pair since I have a coupon.

Ive been nothing but happy with everything Ive purchased from Orvis so far.

Does anyone have any input on these? Comment? Criticisms?

Or is there another pair I should look at in the same price range?

    Thanks

Do it. I think that orvis makes comparable stuff to simms and pata but at a better value. Big fan of redington stuff for the value as well. Sonic Pros are in the same price range and are rated pretty highly.

Orvis definitely makes quality stuff. I'm a really big fan my redington waiters though.

Send the Cabelas back... They usually have really good customer service and warranty on their products.

As for the Orvis rec, I can't comment... My waders have always been Simms and always will be!

Id love a pair of Simm's, but cant afford the 500$ price tag or Id scoop up a pair in a heartbeat

Thats the plan. Im hoping they will still take them back since they are covered in Aquaseal.

    Some really cool shit
The thing about Simms is they last. I tried Cables, tried Orvis. But I finally bit the bullet and paid the then $460 for Simms Guide waders. They are freakin bullet proof. Now, I don't fish 40 to 50 days a year, but I'm an aggressive wader, and put them to the test. They are almost 10 years old, so for me, I call that a bargain. No leaks!

My Simms started to leak in the ass last year. They're about 10 years old. I don't think that is a bad run.

I have the simms freestone waist waders and love them. There is no reason to be past the waist in the rivers here.

I have heard decent things about redington. The fly shop here gives the employees 50% off redington so a lot of the students in my fisheries class use them. They all seem to have leaks already and apparently they can't get them fixed through the company. Neither of them "regret" the purchase but they are all saving to get into some simms.

From what I have heard, Simms stands by their products and will either patch or send you a new pair. La0d0g, you should give them a call and see what they can do for you.

Something similar to the G3 stocking foot. They're old so I don't see anything on the site that directly matches them.
    That's a good idea! thanks!
