I have a faint whine at idol but gets louder with acceleration. I have no idea where to start. Water pump/timing belt has all been replaced recently. 3.4 V6

Assuming it isn't the supercharger give your alternator a look. My uncle had an 06 4.0 and his alternator was dying, if you didn't know better you'd think it was supercharged. Actually sounded mean. But wasn't charging anymore sadly. I have a high pitch squeal at idle and driving, but that's caused by my brake booster.

Pully might be going out. If it's coming through the speakers then check your alternator if you are stock audio. If you are aftermarket audio then start checking your grounds (and alternator).

There's also a little tick noise like a bearings bouncing around. Sounds like it's coming from one of the pulleys

Check your pulleys, mine was going bad and it seized up and finally broke the A/C pulley. Sounded like the PS pump whine. (of course it may be different seeing I don't have a SC)

Have any of guys expire fed the truck not wanting to start only when you fill up? Starts perfect all the time but once I fill up I have to crank it over like 3 times

evap valve. common problem on older civics. Theres a system where evaporating gas gets put back into tank or into the intake. When filling up the valve sticks open and floods engine. (NOTE: idk if these trucks have same kinda system)

That doesn't make much sense. Usually more is better when it comes to fuel pumps. That could be your whine as well possibly. Dying fuel pump. My 89 crown Vics pump screamed a lot but never quit

Devin is right though. Probably an evap thing.

I'd check the AC idler pulley. It's located on the passenger side near the front bottom of the engine. You didn't say how many miles are on the engine. I replaced my idler pulley bearing at 85,000 miles. When I removed the pulley to replace my water pump I noticed the pulley had a very, very slight amount of play between the pulley and the inner race of the bearing. Same on another Toyota truck that I had.

Don't replace the entire pulley, just the bearing inside. It's a very common bearing, a sealed one, and I bought mine for about $5 at a motorcycle shop. If you go to a stealer you will pay 10 times that amount. It's an easy job if you have a vice and the right socket to push the old bearing out and the new one in. Hardest part is removing the front rock shield.

    Good luck!

Basically what mine was except I forked out the cash not 100% knowing what it was. Needed my truck back ASAP. But yeah just bearings would need replaced

I've had that going on for almost a year now. Takes forever to catch after fueling then runs rough/sputters for a few seconds before smoothing out.

No CEL or other obvious signs of trouble. I had a bunch of stuff replaced when the filler tube rotted out a couple months ago and that didn't change anything.

I started leaving the engine running when gassing up, and even then it will sputter and buck if I run the gas nozzle full open. My guess was that turbulence in the tank from the gas pouring in was shaking open a check valve somewhere and draining back the fuel line, but I don't really know anything about the set-up in the tank.

Haven't had the time or energy to investigate any further, but if you find out the cause I'd be happy to not have to listen to people's shitty comments about running the engine at the pump.

Figured out the whine was the A/C idler pulley, replaced went away. As for the truck hesitating on start up after getting gas it was the vacuum switching valve. Ordered new one from Toyota for $90 and my truck feels brand new.

That's what mine was regarding the whine, glad you fixed it!
