Did you decide where you were going to camp? Which bike trails are you going to hit?

Not yet, I hear some spots are closed in October. Right now I may skip the bike trail since I'm taking the kids with me and no hitch bike rack to carry no do I want my s-work enduro stolen when the vehicle is unattended. Looks like I'm able to leave on thur instead of Fri to give me an extra day. Plan is to drive thur morning, get there by 5pm, install and mount before sunset and find a spot close by. Maybe Tumalo? Friday, Bend Ale trail around town and head out to another spot somewhere, maybe Crater Lake? Sat morning, head back south to Mt Shasta and camp there. Any other recommendation? How's Tumalo or Crater lake?

Just keep in mind that Crater Lake is about a 2-hour drive southwest of Bend. Beautiful area, but maybe hit that on the way back to Cali via Hwy 97? Just a suggestion.

Tumalo is about halfway between Bend and Sisters. Not a far drive.

If you want something closer your first night, there are plenty, but check out Soda Creek campground near Sparks Lake. Small area, but close. I know I mentioned it before but your timeline doesn't leave much flexibility to find camp and setup (especially with little ones!). CVT closes at 5, but I imagine you've been in contact with them. It's a Friday in Bend at 5pm... AKA beer 'o clock!

    Great photos!

How was the tent to sleep in? Did you use anything inside for added comfort?

It was great! It stayed much warmer than expected inside and it was in the high 20s at night. Only thing we had under us, were the bottom portions of our sleeping bags. We may add more padding later on, but it was great as is. But there was definitely condensation under the mat, but we are still waiting to hear from CVT of when they will get the Anti Condensation mats in for the shasta.. Jaime said I was put on a list for when they got them in stock. But love it so far! Can't wait for our next trip!

what a bunch of us did was order the larger mat that they offer and cut it to size. Really easy to do, extra $5 to have it now and not wait, and the leftover material will be useful for other things.

I didn't know they had any sizes in stock. We were actually thinking about doing that, so I guess we need to make a phone call back. Thanks!

It was good, the kids had fun. First night drove towards Mt Bachelor but all the campgrounds around there was close for the season. Drove around for over an hour with no luck, it's dark and late past 9pm, not to mention pretty cold that night. Last stop was Tumalo, signs say Full, drove in saw a handi cap spot, just in luck, "okay to use past 7pm if not occupy, cool!! Crater lake was nice, but was raining and campground is closed as well but we found Diamond Lake close by. Overall great trip, just a little tired from the driving. =)

Sorry about the camp ground issues. It can be pretty tough late in the season. Hotels have to make money somehow. ;)

    Get some rest!
