I have no doubt that I would take my truck to DMZ if I had the money, and I have had them do little things for me here and there (I was there last week to get my coilovers charged with nitrogen). That being said some of their quotes for certain things are fair and sometimes they're top dollar. There are other shops that do great work for cheaper prices too but if you have the money of course go to DMZ. Tim is a good guy and you'll have no doubt that the work on your truck is top notch

Probably not if you're in a hurry...you'd have to ask @RelentlessFab

Oh yea, I've been to DMZ before and seen his work, and I've met up with Tim a couple times, he is undoubtedly a great guy and does great work. As you said, some things are priced just fine, but his actual builds I've seen the price tags on and I can't quite afford that hehe.

I'll shoot him an email, but would preferably not want my truck sitting around for 6+ months? I understand he's pretty busy with his shop, so it all depends what the quote is and what he quote on turnaround.

Either that, or I need to get a transporter to deliver your trucks to your doors. What's shipping a vehicle going for these days ?

Meh, I'm willing to travel a bit for a fabricator, I don't mind that part. It's finding one that will do good work at an affordable price in a decent amount of time :D.

And yes yes yes, I know, as the sign in the DMZ shop says Quality Work-Fast Service- Cheap- We only do 2...or maybe it was just the first 2? Something like that lol

Should be starting another link build in a week or 2. Might do a few things different this time around. Stay tuned.

Had the truck out in Parker for the BITD Blue Water Desert Challenge this weekend to wrap up the 3 race Class 7100 season. We won the Mint and felt like we were fast and competitive but a few of the other trucks had issues so we never got a fair head to head fight. At Vegas to Reno I screwed the pooch at Mile 4 with the roll over and took us out of the game early. At Blue Water we were looking forward to hopefully finally having a good straight up race to see what we had.

The course seems a lot like a BAP/RATR course but with a lot more sand and soft stuff. But basically, beat to crap by the time you get to Day 2. We got the match up we were hoping for and had a great run through the first 65 of about 71-72 miles on Saturday. After giving up the hole shot we'd gotten around the other truck before the first mile and by the middle of lap 2 of 3 had close to a 5 min lead and were mixing it up with Trophy Lites and Class 3000s. Unfortunately we got hit with a fuel delivery problem and after a little trouble shooting discovered that one of the two wires running power to the fuel pump had broken. Were able to fix it but not in time to complete the heat within the time limits so we timed out, giving the win for the day to the other guys.

Were a little bummed about it but were eager to get back at it for Day 2 two and after giving up the hole shot again were back to first on the road by mile 3 and by mile 7 we'd already put a minute on the other truck...until it happened again. Of all things, this time it was the other wire. We've discussed running a second pump (its a factory pump that we ran in to our fuel cell) but never prioritized it because it hasn't been an issue in 5 years. I guess 5 years was the limit.

Were again able to get it fixed and racing again and this time completed all three laps although we're not sure if BITD scored them. They let us run all three but the third may have been timed out. Anyway, ultimately we got the validation we were looking for and felt like the race was ours to lose, we just had a silly failure that cost us the official bragging rights for the weekend.

In all I couldn't be more happy about how things went this year...a win at the Mint, second at V2R in spite of a lot of self inflicted (by me) chaos, and a fast run at Blue Water. Prior to this year we had only raced the truck two times with two DNFs so this was a great R&D year for us to figure out what the truck can do, how competitive it can be, and where the little bugs are we need to get this thing over the top and 100%.

We put just under 1,000 hard race miles on this truck in 3 races this year at some of the biggest races in the States. Our MCM Fab kit has worked flawlessly from Day 1 and I'm really happy that we have Matt's parts on our truck and appreciate all his help over the last few years. The Camburg guys have gone above and beyond to make this series happen, without them we likely wouldn't be racing BITD at all and on top of that they've offered a pretty generous contingency package for the series and we really appreciate it. We got some great support from General Tire this year too and love the fact that they offer cash money contingency, not too many that do that these days...especially for a sportsman class.

I personally feel really fortunate to have crossed paths with so many amazing people this year and am lucky to have the group of friends we have who have supported us all year. Finally, without Khris (Sirhk100) this truck probably would have been sold off back in 2010 when I moved to DC and we'd still be sitting around watching Dezert People videos and day dreaming. As a life long fan of desert racing this year was really gratifying to me and I appreciate the help and support of everyone who had a hand in bringing it all together.

good too see you guys out there! We were camped a few pits down but I never had a chance to get down and say hey with as busy as we were all weekend. I ended up riding both days in the 6100 and holy shit the course was brutal, littered with broken trucks left and right on both days with holes deep enough to swallow the whole truck and weird spots all over the course. We ended up 7th in class and 13th overall for the weekend in the race with the TTs which is pretty awesome for us racing with our normal co-driver behind the wheel for his first time and almost 20 minutes of downtime on Lap 1 Day 1.

Is it worth upgrading from a basic 2.0 smoothie with resis? I need to read up on the benefits from bypasses again..

Interesting how it's a 12" shackle and it's in the frame.
