My battery in my 2015 died today and I had to get a boost. I was in the drive through car wash and turned my truck off while it was washing. It was a longer wash cycle but only about 15 minutes. I had the stereo on but not too loud.

Is there any reason the battery would have died from that? The gauge cluster would still light up but it would not start.

I know the sound of a dead battery, turn the key and click click click no starter crank...

I'm wondering if this is possibly just a freak occurrence because I started it a few times during the day to move it around the parking lot at work while it was being cleaned, that plus the stereo equals dead battery?

    Anybody got any insight?

That is the same sound that can occur if the battery terminals or ground connections need cleaning. I would check those before spending the bux for a new battery.

if you normally run your stereo on battery, aftermarket stereo especially, it could be running down your battery. If your battery was deep cycled too much it might be shot. BUT, don't fret, just get a new one for free from the stealership if its covered by warranty. if you have to buy one buy an optima yellow top, then run your stereo till your ears are content.

what if you bought a deep cycle...and then went and claimed monetary value of the OEM battery?

Could offset the price of a deep cycle and have a nice upgrade..

Allstar780 bring it back to the dealer and have it changed under warranty.

When mine died they towed it to the dealership just to swap the battery. Even after I offered to bring the battery to them. Annoyed me though cause it turned a 30 minute deal into almost four hours.

They just wanted one of there mechanics to put the meter on it and say it needed to be changed. They got paid for the warranty job, easy money for them.

lucky. My dealership would only accept the truck coming to them. It was right after the 3 year toyota care ended too. Luckily the dealership paid ot have it towed to them so i couldnt complain to much. When the tow truck guy came he offered to test the battery and crap but since i already knew it was dead i didnt have him bother.

Well it seems to be doing fine now, but I'm going in for a free tire rotation next week so I'll have them load test the battery then
