Got a little carried away today, engine got to 5k before I had to lay off the gas in order to shift. I have the 4 cylinder taco. You guys think letting the RPM's that high for a second or two harmed anything? Truck runs fine still, just curious.

Before anyone starts judging me...this was a joke...

Who among us doesn't get a little carried away once in a while. There's absolutely nothing like running a series of eight or ten 360s across a wet pasture at dawn!! Usually, no harm done. Running an engine at higher rpms is not usually considered a good thing for MPGs and engine stress/engine lifespan. From now on, you're just gonna have to try to control yourself a little better. At least that's what I tell myself.

My apologies, TacomaZL. My post certainly wasn't and attempt to tell you what to do. It was merely a light-hearted suggestion. Oh, here's another suggestion: Red line that little 4 banger from Joliet to Moline!! Just don't forget to take pictures.

Well now, TacomaZL, you said not to tell you what to do. I would never try to tell you what to do. It was only a suggestion. But, I think you really should try it.

I know, TacomaZL. Your girlfriend already told me that's what she says to you. Hell, she says the same thing to me. Maybe we should listen to her.
