Excellent! Which dealer are you buying from? I just went by Don Valley North and they didn't have any yet.

    Fellow Canadians I need advice!!

How is driving a manual 4x4 truck in the winter compared to automatic?
If you have experience please share your insight

When in 4x4 you will notice little difference. When on ice in 2WD you will notice a difference if you drop into gear to hard for your traction. Personally, an automatic gives you about the best throttle control on ice because it has some give built in. I've owned a few manuals, not Tacoma's though, and now I have an auto Tacoma. I'm glad I went automatic.

Really? I hate when you're just sitting in traffic waiting to cross a bridge and you're constantly on and off the clutch.

I do miss driving standard but I do need the long box for the toys we have!

Ive read alot about these transmissions up and down shifting alot searching for a gear, it would be easier to control with manual. I only ask because im test driving an auto today because nobody around has manuals yet. Keeping my options open. Guess ill know more about the auto tranny's this aft.

They did, I dealt with Peter, but he made it very, very clear that he was not impressed about giving me any kind of discount. Technically you should get even more off than $1000 for a Limited though, they have a higher mark up.

Wow, that's the first time I've heard/seen a manual transmission cost more.. Unless car companies are trying to get rid of the manual transmission completely and just lower the sales of them with a higher price to then be able to say they aren't selling and out them completely. That'll be a sad day, even exotics are doing away with manuals

I agree! The only time I didn't enjoy driving a manual in city traffic was when I had a high performance clutch in my Subaru WRX... Was a difficult clutch to drive and made stop and go traffic kind of crappy, but even then, it wasn't that bad!

Congrats, post pics of my truck's twin!

Press the ECT button and that transmission guessing will mostly go away. The transmissions stock setting is for the best fuel economy which is why it hops all over the place. The ECT button gets rid of that hopping around.

Not only that but the autos do have the manual shift option for those that want to control the shifting themselves.

Most of the newer vehicles these days have different shift patterns than I'm used to. But after driving them for a bit you get accustomed to the rpms they run and shift at.

Really like the embossed tailgate! I fear we're all gonna get rear ended now because the drivers behind us are going to be distracted by how sexy the truck is. :D

I agree, my boyfriend thinks I should put the hitch on to protect it lol.

On another note, I bought Lloyd's GAP Plus total loss replacement insurance, which includes partial loss benefits which will pay for ICBC deductibles and ensure OEM replacement parts are used in any repairs. After almost declining it, I'm very glad I bought it, major piece of mind while driving, especially with how ICBC treats people in collisions here in BC.

I wish the tail signals were amber , red signals just aren't as easy to see IMO

If you want to protect it go with this:

    http://www.superbumper.com/

If you want to have your frame bent if you get rear ended, then leave a hitch and ball sticking out. It does just as much damage to you as to them. I'm not sure why people haven't figured that out.

I prefer the control of selecting the gears on a manual in snow/winter conditions. You can start in a higher gear resulting in less wheel spin. If things start to slip suddenly, push in the clutch and now you are instantly in neutral. WAY more control of the vehicles speed and how the power is put down. But in 4x4 and careful driving the auto is capable.

Definitely, I'll be putting this on my truck as well. We put it on my wife's Explorer!

With all the shitty drivers in the lower mainland it's a must for new vehicles. The only reason i'm buying a new Taco is because my truck was written off by a guy running a red and taking out two of us. Although he was from Alberta so i guess I should't generalize about Vancouver drivers! haha

oh man, that's when i enjoy manual the most. waiting in bumper to bumper traffic is boring, but if I have clutch and break to play with, shifting gear between 1 and N, release and engage the hand break to help relax my feet, it turns the boring traffic into XBOX game in reallife. Also it makes me focus on driving not play with my phone.

Sorry but your comment makes me laugh. "Hey, I need a stick shift so my Truck feels like my Forza remote control and I don't distracted drive because I'm do busy trying to earn achievements." :p. No offense intended, I can see your point but it is funny.

To each their own I guess, traffic as a whole just makes me want to go on a murderous rampage though. Going through Surrey has to the worst, between the mental midget drivers and the amount of traffic lights it really enough to drive anyone mad.

It's not like you ever have time to even downshift. It's accelerate, slam on brake, repeat. :annoyed:
