Anything at or over 2.5" of lift, you will need new UCAs and brake lines are recommended

    ^what Geek said.

You can get away with stock UCAs if you stay close to 2", but even at 2", you won't get an ideal alignment unless you install aftermarket UCAs. For example, I have ~2" up front and my caster is maxed at 1.5ish with stock UCAs (2.5+ caster is ideal).

If you go with Dakars in the rear, it's be a good idea to install extended brake lines as insurance when you flex.

Ugh so I'm gonna be sitting around 3 grand for all of it? Another question that I had, if I get a 3 inch lift but only raise it 2 inches will that give me a much more comfortable ride?

Are you referring to the Icon fully adjustable coilovers? I believe they're adjustable up to 3", so yes, the lower you adjust them, the less preload, the softer the ride will be (probably negligible though). However, the more weight you have from armor and accessories, the more preload you'll need to lift, or you'll need a higher springrate coil, so it might be a wash.

Is there anywhere that you can get all of those things that you recommended in a kit? Or is there one website that sells all of it?

    headstrongoffroad.com or wheelersoffroad.com

Hands down BEST customer service. Headstrong has a bit better pricing IMO

This looking solid? And will I need the extended brake lines for this set up, or is that only if I were to get the extended travel shocks?

No need for the OME lift coils, the Icons are a full adjustable coilover. You don't really need the 2.5 rears, you can get the 2.0's and save quite a bit of money. I would call Wheelers or Headstrong and they can talk you through what you actually need. You will need extended rear brake lines and make sure you get the custom length rear Icons for the Dakars.

Wheeler's site says stock upper control arms are fine with that Icon coilover, I can't comment "how fine" that means however.

What would be my motivation for getting the extended travel stuff?

If you want more downtravel/droop. As far as rears, getting the extended ones are for aftermarket leaf packs that lift more than 2.5 inches.

If you wanna check out my experience with the Icons check out my build thread.

More travel = smoother better on and off road performance.

That's what I figured, so with the extended travel and the normal travel being the same price why would anybody buy the normal travel?

Exactly. Also, the only difference between the King extended arm regular is a small aluminum spacer inside the shock.

I know because mine were the regular and I took it out lol

DD setup 6112's/5160's basically level, with much improved ride characteristics for $1000. Alignment is good with stock UCA's...Tires will be replaced next week BTW.

This can be misleading. Works when installed at the pre-set 2" of lift. If you crank it up to 2.5"+ it will be not so fine and you will need UCAs.

I agree, I'm at a little over an inch in front end lift and alignment specs are good, but I'm completely out of adjustment, so any additional lift would put me out of ideal alignment. I guess, ideal alignment s subject to interpretation since Toyota spec is a pretty wide range. Regardless, I don't consider this \ / as satisfactory alignment.

So potentially, I could buy and install these with my factory upper control arms and drive around completely fine at 2 inches until I get around to saving up the money for new Uca's?

And how necessary is it to get shocks with an external reservoir? Because it makes them a lot more expensive
