Okay so I'm experiencing a rattling in my dash which is probably a result of my stereo system. It seems to be coming from the center portion of the dash because a hand rest will yield the squeaking noise. Some of you are probably gonna laugh at the ridiculousness of this post, but it honestly annoys the shit out of me. Any help is appreciate. Also any diagrams of how to disassemble the dash if it comes down to that?

Stuff some pipe insulation foam in between your dash and windshield wayyyyyyy down in there and it should fix it.

    ^^^^ This.

I used some 3/4" diameter foam strips that I got from the hardware store. It stopped the annoying sound immediately.

Sometimes I wish my hearing wasn't so amazing, because then I wouldn't be able to hear all of these tiny rattles............then I remember that I'm almost deaf.

Do I need to take the dash apart or is there enough space to wedge it down in there?

Don't take anything apart, just wedge that shit in between the dash and the windshield and collect your sanity.

No you don't have to take anything apart. Just shove it down between the dash and windshield as far as it will go, all the way across the length of the dash did it for me.

Haha sweet! I also have something that rattles in the back on the passengers side. It may be the seat belt clip hitting the side of the trim because it only does it when my subs hit. :anonymous:

I know this is an old thread, but just want to say thanks.

I had the same rattle in the center of the dash. It too would go away when pressure was applied just over the radio.

I tried to ignore it, but it's been driving me nuts... I've tried wedging coins in around the radio trim etc. nothing.

Wouldn't have thought about stuffing something between the dash and windshield without this thread.

On a four hour drive the other day, I couldn't stand it any longer. I pulled over and searched the forum. After finding this thread, I wedged a couple of shop rags in there. Blissful silence!

Now, I need to pick up some foam for a more permanent solution

I like the fact that you actually pulled over, searched it, and solved it, on the fly.

This is why @tcBob 's house is coolest.

Rattles are a vicious cycle for me. I drown them out by turning up the volume, subsequently damaging my hearing. But hey alteast I dont hear the rattle.

    Hey fellas,
Got the same exact rattle happening in my 14. If i press hard it'll go away. Then one i was able to shove my pink finger in there and noticed its the defrost vent that rattles up against the dash. You have to wiggle it enough so that it gets back into place like theres a notch for it to sit in on the upper dash. Not as loud as before but better. Will still try this foam solution as well. Annoying sound for sure.

I second this sentiment!!!!!! TW comes thru, again. Went out and shoved pipe insulation in. Instantaneous, blissful silence.
    Thanks, y'all.
