Purchased my first Tacoma (2016 TRD Sport) last Sunday and absolutely loving it...except for the stock tires (Toyo Open Country A30s). I didn't come in with high expectations, but I literally drove through a grass field and must have looked at a little rock the wrong way. Next thing I know I'm out $200+ and I hadn't even filled up my gas tank yet. Anyone else having issues with the sidewalls on these?

Here is where Les Schwab tire identified the sidewall puncture.

And here is the grass field where it happened

I don't see a puncture. Just have them fill it with a plug

All stock tires that come with Tacomas are junk. You might as well be running car tires. I would just replace all 4 with some good all terrains.

well duh, its a P rated tire (4-ply). if you go off pavement you should be using C-rated at least and up to E-rated for serious rocks.

I don't think you can plug a tire with a sidewall puncture.

2013 Sport...came with Dunlop's. A### something (230?) or another. I'm just waiting for the treat to wear down. 52K on them and they still have some left though. *sigh*

    The better coast
    You cannot plug a sidewall.

That's where the tire is flexing and the hole is constantly changing sizes so a plug would be useless.

One can never have too many light bars.
It's nice to see the shift from bitching about the dunlops to the "low end" toyos.

The tires on the Off Road are also trash. Look at Mike's stickied post about "picking up his Silver TRD OR".... his first mild off road trip gashed the tire with a rock, irreparable damage to the tire. I'd drive straight to discount tire from the Dealership... a piece of road debris in the Circle K parking lot could render your truck undriveable with these POS's

Bridgestone duelers came on my 2015 TRD Sport. They have since been replaced with these Cooper S/T Maxx "E" rated tires.

265/70R16? Was that the stock size? Notice any difference in Ride, Acceleration, Road Noise or MPGs since changing them out?

Yes, these are 256/70/17's. They are 1 tire size larger than stock. They are a slight bit louder than stock but not too bad at all. They are not quite as responsive on the highway as the originals but that is to be expected. As fas as MPG's I have no clue. I never checked it.
