This post got me a bit nervous since I realized I haven't even tried the sport shifting in my sons SR5 yet. Just got back and works like a charm. Always starts off in 4 and can shift from 1-6. It's a great way to break up the monotony of driving auto from time to time. I'm just glad it worked.

In the manual it says for the 2016 it won't go to sixth gear. We will see what the dealer says this Tuesday and I'll let you know

I think it's funny folks get sand in their vag over something so trivial.

That's what I thought as well, but it went into 6 when I tried it.

Ok well the dealer called and it is a ground for the wiring harness. They said they have the regional engineer involved. It may become a recall for a lot of 2016 Toyota Tacoma's. They said they found out how to fix it but just waiting for approval from Toyota. If they don't approve the repair it will need a new wiring harness that is not made yet by Toyota(back order).... I'll let you all know the outcome when I hear back tomorrow

Nice they found the source - hope the fix isn't too complicated. Thanks for the update!

I just received another call claiming the ground from the factory may have been crimped to much. So they are going to fix it tomorrow and let me know

Well Toyota fixed my truck. There was a ground wire in the wiring harness that was crimped to much... They had to replace the wire and the pin in the harness... All good now
