I's gonna say, even I'm not that cheap, and I'm pretty damn cheap. :D

Iffin' them things ain't 8" wide, that might be the best idea (in addition to being cheap, I'm also a huge fan of running the widest wheel you can clear with 8" wide being the minimum). Looks like you'd probably have to run wheel spacers with them as well for bigger tires to clear the steering knuckle. Might be wrong about that, but they don't look like they have a lot of back spacing.

Yeah they're 16x7 and I have 1.5 spacers in the barn, it was like 80 bucks for all of that, I ran the tires on my stock wheels a few months back but had to commute so took them off again. I did alright at hardrock and with enough OT from Christmas and covering vacations I should be able to do some nice stuff to her. That's if I don't get @Tisa4runner14 parts instead :/ it's tough because we just bought the house and 5 acres lol trust me i'm not usually that cheap on builds

Doesn't apply to 4WD vs 2WD. ;) The 4WD should get the goods first since it has the best chance of getting you home (or recovering the 2WD), then upgrade the 2WD. If they were both 4WD, then sure, Ladies first.

Most of the 2WD guys are running dirty-5s, with Dirtymike being the one on 37s. Us 4WD folks are mostly running 33s or smaller. Can't clear dirty-5s without major surgery, hacking up body mounts, fenders, and tubbing out the floor pans. And all we can get is 3 inches of lift without going with a super expensive long travel or a drop-bracket lift...and if you're going to shell out for that, you might as well go all in and SAS that thing.

edit: Oh and I'm running 33x13.50s and I'll pop a CV axle like a wet noodle, so I don't wanna see how fast I'd snap them with a 35. :p

Oh no no all we are both doing is 3-4 and 33's I was just curious since I saw blackhorse's youtube it looked like a few had 35s. I think 3 and 33s can handle most of the stuff I've seen, maybe go to GA and NC but I'm not going crazy anytime soon lol

This is the reason the 4WD needs the upgrades first, to prevent embarrassing situations such as this one where the 4WD has to get rescued by the 2WD. :D

(Unless the 2WD is basass like Thorny Mike's and Mr. Dirty-7s', both of which have yanked the OGT out of trouble before.)

That said, with that 2WD, you could slap a set of maxtracs on there like everyone else is doing and stick that sucker on 35s. Might be pretty sweet to see a 'Runner like that.

(Heavy Sigh) I just convinced her to not do a modified FJ 6 inch Fabtech on 35s, and now she will have this plan. Lol oh well I guess we could do that since she wants to be the biggest and coolest lady 4runner and all that

Maxtracs are a lot cheaper than a DB lift. And it's perform better too.
