2015's? Maybe a BC promotion if not? Here they are still showing 4 year rates at 2.99%.

I heard a Tacoma radio commercial finally this morning while working.

You paid 70K for an F150 :boink:.

I'm sure you are forgetting the 12K in discounts you received when you actually paid for the truck. Even my dad's new King Ranch he has on order is going to cost less than 60K after discounts.

Sorry to hear about your accident BTW. I carry "new car/1 year better" insurance on all of my vehicles from intact for that reason. I'm not sure exactly what they call it, but I get the better of either whatever is missing on my financing or a model year newer in value.

Not I, but after all the extras and taxes/levies/delivery the invoice was $70,000ish.

    THIS

I used to think oh just pay for it over a longer period of time to have smaller payments etc...not always worth it. by the time you're done paying for it will it even still be worth keeping.

Its also one of the reasons I am leaning towards the tacoma next as well. My other choice is an Audi S4...at $67000 even with a good down payment those payments will be huge or long. And by the time it is paid off the car will be worth nothing. I've always been a die hard Audi VW fan but from how bad they depreciate they suck. Its usually better to buy on pre owned off lease since its 3 years old and $20000 cheaper. But an S4 used no thank you. Car like that will likely be driven and driven hard, who knows what problems it will have. Its like buying a used M3. biggest mistake, those cars are always abuse.

I really need to find out what the ownership cost of tacoma is. I know toyota isn't cheap...but I can't see them being as bad as the germans for maintenance.

My dads truck is 60K after all that jam. Yikes. You paid a lot for an F150, especially one that wasn't a 2015 I'm guessing. The 2015's had a pretty fair price jump.

Anyways, you are still going to get hit on a Tacoma. Mine cost me close to 40K after you include the interest rate, taxes, financing charges, everything. Without financing it was about $38K IIRC. After 2 years my truck would trade for about 27K, according to a local dealer friend, and I might be able to sell it private for around 29K. That's a 13K loss, which is 67% retained value after 2 years if I trade or a little better at a low 70's% return if I sold it. That's still not very good. Vehicles suck for value, no matter what you do you lose money unless you can keep them until they rust out.

I would think Audi must be about the worst car you could buy new. I know I have a friend that just sold an 8 year old S something or other for less than 6K... he always had problems with it too.

probably just want to get rid of the last of the models.

Its messed how the tacomas hold value though. I was looking online at used ones 2012 still going for 25K+

ya they're terrible. Same with BMW and Merc.

I remember I was talking to my mechanic once about buying the S4 new he said if I do he'll hit me with a wrench lol. He had one as well. Bought out the lease of a customer, 2012 S4 for 32K (this was in 2014). Was only a three year old car (since 2012 was really 2011 made) and lost almost half its value already.

They're so fun to drive and what not and very luxurious, honestly the Audi/VW have a bad rep for reliability but like any car if you maintain them they actually last really long and are really reliable. The problem isn't that they always break...its just the maintenance is not cheap on them nor are the parts. And the only reason the maintenance is so bad is everything is so tucked in. A stupid timing belt change on a jetta TDI is a $1200 job from a dealer roughly $1000 from a reputable shop. Majority of that cost is just the labour since you need to remove the whole front end just to get to the stupid thing.

2012 Platinum, and as we know it totally depends on the timing of the purchase. There were dealer adds like a tonneau, rails, bed mat(which should be included in every damn truck IMO) and a few others. Regardless, i didn't pay that but that's what the final invoice was!

Plus you never get full value from a write off. Which is why with the new truck i'll be adding the total loss insurance! We couldn't put it on the F150 because of the age and it came in from out of province.

Yup, that's a 2015 promotion. Basically ties up with what GM is doing. Everyone has to get rid of the old stock at this time of year.

Interesting fact is that GM, and I think it was either Buick or Cadillac, came up with the concept of changing things every model year to try to force out smaller competition. They would keep the car the exact same but change a few welds to make the "newest" car the rage among people who had to have. It's funny how things haven't changed much for Toyota from that idea.

If I was interested I'd run the side by side comparison between the equivalent 2015 Taco and the 2015 Canyon financed @ 48 months. I'd wager a guess that they'd be fairly close.

I think the Tacoma would be cheaper or almost dead on given the math on the price changes.

I know in the USA guys were getting Tacoma's for cheaper than Colorado's with similar trim.

Speaking of maintenance... Apparently oil change intervals for the 2016 are 15,000 km (or 12 months)?! o_O

I know I'm being a pain in the ass today but... I would hope the 10 year old design would be less than the 1 year old design.

It's probably to avoid some environmental fees. Does your owners manual, or maintenance manual, have a section for regular maintenance and one for a heavy/extreme duty cycle? In Canada always follow the heavy duty cycle routine. I know guys around here try to go with the cheap cycle and those are the Ram, Ford, and GM trucks that you usually see in the shop lol.

I haven't looked into it that far yet. I'll stick to 8,000 I think, can't imagine that long between changes!!
