I'm sure there's a 6 inch or so lift out there for the rear. Remember, the objective here is to get her on dirty-5s so she can keep up with the 4WD as much as possible. :D Go big or go home.

    j/k. :D

@Sholden223 is probably a better source of info than I am about DB lift, but in his case, being 4wd, he really didn't have many other options to get 35s on it...without hacking up the cab mounts, fenders, and other stuff. Wes (@xweslingx ) is running 35s with just suspension lift, but IIRC, he had to do a LOT of clearanceing. I think he said they explored putting 35s on @leelee 's (another 4Runner girl) 4th gen Runner, but found they wouldn't be able to trim enough fender out due to the rear door, but she was 4wd, so their only other option was a DB lift (or a LT, or an SAS), so I last I heard she was on 33s. The point is, you have more cost effective options with a 2wd.

Oh, and how Wes and Spencer ain't popping Cvs left and right is a complete mystery to me. 2nd gen CVs must be stronger than 1st gen CVs. :pout:

That'd be my biggest concern, 35s with stock CVs and it's just a helluva lot more expensive, then you have the whole cutting a huge chunk out of the frame making it permanent. I think 4 with 33s with a winch would be a good start to wheel with around FL and if later she says I want to go higher then hopefully have enough saved by then lol we rode along with Kerben (new 4runner on 33s and she liked it alot so we'll see)

For a 2wd, CVs aren't an issue. There are none and the rear end is plenty strong.

On a 4wd, all you're getting is 3" without a DB lift, an LT setup, or an SAS. Anything above 3" without any of those and you'll be running around close to full droop and your CV angles with be stupid. You'll be blowing boots left and right.

    I was m
Exactly, sorry I was mixing the two a bit there lol both are going to be about 3 or 4 on 33s and she gets the winch first with the hideaway mount. I don't think I want 35's because I've busted too many CVs on Grand Cherokees and Chevys I got tired of it. I could always do the heavy duty ones if I really wanted to but I haven't seen many trails like Frank said that 33s can't really get past. I finally got past wanting to be the biggest and loudest and all that, I just want practical for what we're going to be doing every month lol

There are plenty of places 35s would be nice to have, particularly at Hardrock and Richloam, but even at Citrus and Croom, there are places the ground clearance provided by 35s can be the difference between making it through or not. Don't get me wrong, I might be forced to run 33s, but if there was a simple way to do it, I'd definitely run 35s. Unfortunately, that won't happen until I hit the lotto or inherit a crap ton of cash to finance having the OGT SAS'd. :D

But yes, the OGT does okay for only being on 33s. She just won't handle deep mud as well as I'd like. She frames out too quick. The flip side to that is she has less of a pucker factor when negotiating off-camber obstacles than trucks on 35s do since she has a lower CG.

That's true, same with me it's mostly money and me being impatient. Would I run a long arm set up with fiberglass fenders and 35's, hell yeah. But, then I open my banking app and it just kind of laughs at me and I bury that thought for awhile.

All the lift and such aside, if you guys are going to wheel with us on a semi regular basis, the first thing I'd suggest you get, before everything else, is a good set of rock sliders. If you need a good argument for why, check out Frank's rocker panels. :D

Those nfabs...do they mount to the frame? Didn't think nfab made actual sliders. Also, have you checked out 4xInnovations rock sliders? That's what I have (I think Thorny Mike has 4xIs as well now). IIRC, mine were just over $300 shipped. Had a friend weld them on for half the price of a spool of wire for his welder.

1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
MaxTrac for the win. I have them and the 5100 set at 1.75 with stock springs. I know the rear of our 14 4runner has coil springs and is weird looking lol
