I picked my 2015 DCSB OR ~2 weeks ago. I do love it but there are some issues/items that do seem weird for a $30k+ truck (I know I'm new here but I do hate when someone complains there are many who come back with, "it's a truck." - umm, really?). Anyway, I digress.

My biggest and only issue is no adjustment for seat height. I saw many threads on here regarding it also but I sent an email to Toyota about it. They did respond but I was wondering if many on here actually complain - I see threads started years ago regarding the seat height issue but Toyota hasn't "fixed" it yet. seems weird

People must haven't complained enough, they didn't even put them in the newly redesigned 2016...

I have. Like I said before I like the truck, just not the quality. Peoples response is.. Well it's better than anything else out there.
So that piece of crap has a little less corn in it...why not build something quality and separate yourself from the crap. It's like we are stuck with either corn filled crap... Or just regular crap.

From your description you already knew about the height adjustment or lack of when you bought it. Why complain after the fact.

So you can't complain about something you own just because he knew going in it was not going to adjust?? So your theory is if you buy it, it's now perfect? Sound logic. I wonder how many people knew about the weak tailgate, should they not upgrade it with a reinforcement since they knew going in it was weak? Or the rusty frames. Or the leaf springs. Or the radio.

Trying to understand what is to be gained from complaining (whether on a public forum or in correspondence directly with the manufacturer) about a mass-production vehicle already purchased voluntarily. That time and energy might be better spent researching available aftermarket or even custom solutions to correct the things buyer cannot live with. Or just sell the goddam thing.

Toyota sent me multiple surveys about what I thought of my Tacoma several weeks after the purchase. I was candide with my feedback. Likely useless as the 2016 design was already finalized and about to enter production.

OK. I was hopeful that people wouldn't come on and say, "you bought it, why complain". My purpose was that I see a lot of people who; I won't say complain, have suggestions for Toyota where they could do better (generally, what happens for every company except on TW apparently as "if you bought it, you knew what you were getting; therefore, love every piece of it" - no exceptions). I was just wondering how many people contact Toyota directly. I know some dealers are on TW and some suggestions probably at some point may make it to corporate but I was thinking that suggesting things directly to Toyota may be a better route.

FWIW, I love the truck. I am having so much fun with it. Tonight I will be towing with it the first time and can't wait. And, yes, I did test drive 4 times but really didn't think about the seat adjustment at the time (call me an idiot, I guess). Also, my contact to Toyota had nothing to do with fixing the 2015 or 2016 models, obviously but hoping it would be helpful for future versions. And I am short 5' 8" but I've read some 6 footers complain of not having the seat adjustment

This is the response I got back:

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

We appreciate your feedback on your Tacoma seats, and we are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with this model's current seat design. Communications such as yours help us to become aware of our customers' interests and expectations so that we can plan future vehicles to better serve your driving needs.

Each dealership has, on-site, a Customer Relations Manager, whose job is to address all issues that may arise. In the interest of customer satisfaction, we would like to contact the Customer Relations Manager at "where I bought my Truck" on your behalf so that if your concern can be addressed. If you are ok with us taking this action, please reply to this email with your permission and we would be happy to do so. Once contacted, the dealership's management will have two business days to respond to you, and will report back to Toyota once the follow up is completed, so we will have a record of both your experience and the outcome.

Now, I probably won't get my dealer involved as they have nothing to do with this and, really, what are they going to do. I have a suggestion that Toyota should add a seat adjustment for height on their Tacoma's. I've actually suggested some things to Apple regarding their iphones in the past; as well as other companies. I do think companies listen if they get enough hits. Mine alone won't do much but if enough folks suggest it, it will happen "some day"

 Hopefully the manager at "where I bought my truck" can help you out. Glad to see they didn't give you a canned, automated response.

Do you understand that not everyone dismisses the Toyota Tacoma as "crap"? In fact, I'd say people categorizing the Toyota Tacoma as "crap" are in the relative minority.

I don't understand the "complaint" here. One of the first things I did/noticed when I got in the truck for a test drive was try to adjust the seat and realized that it was all manual. Pretty quickly you figure out there's lumbar, seat back and forward/backward position. I adjusted, buckled up and started driving. If you test drive a car and you're sitting uncomfortably enough to file a complaint with the manufacturer, why would you purchase it? Economics won...Toyota didn't upgrade the seats because what they had was selling out. That's like buying a car and complaining that it's not actually a rocketship. I knew that when I bought it.

Now if the sticker says "power seat adjustment with height adjustment" and it's actually not there, THEN you complain.

There should be a "wish list thread", you know, for all these "wishes".

There are already 34,000 "complaint threads", more if you also count any thread Rock Lobster has posted in. :)

Wait...so no one has ever made a suggestion to a company after they bought their product? Wow, I have so much sh*t to sell you. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the truck. What do I wish for down the road - yes, a seat height adjustment. It's a suggestion for the future, not my vehicle. I bet if you started a thread on TW that said, "What do you wish for in next years truck", people would list things they would want, And, when they didn't have those items, some of the same people would just say "well, you knew they didn't have it so you shouldn't have bought it" - really? My last Honda didn't have everything I wanted but I suggested some minor items for them to add

I remember working for some of the big hotel chains and all of them had suggestion boxes - you know, where folks thought the company could improve on. I guess Toyota is not allowed to improve any an area I think would be easy. Once again, I love this truck but that doesn't mean I get in it, drive for awhile, and say, yes, I would NEVER change a thing.

It's just a suggestion (let's not call it a complaint) and once again, the thread was started as "do people go directly to toyota with a suggestion" (even though I wrote complaint I am changing it now) not "should we be allowed to complain about something we already knew about"

RL: that's where I was going with this thread. Do most people send these wishes directly to Toyota or just post them here on TW (me included, I'm just as guilty)?

    Dear Toyota,

I wish my truck came with a 5'-8" leggy blonde that hated wearing clothes. It is YOUR fault that one wasn't included with my 2011 DCSB that I bought used. It does not matter that I was aware of the fact there was no blonde (or brunette) packaged with my truck when I bought it. In the future, you should make that feature standard equipment. I will call your product names and criticize it on public forums until you do.

    Unsatisfied in Kentucky

OK....Let's see where this gets me! (uh....divorced probably)

Yup. that's exactly the same. You are correct. I will never suggest to a company again something that could enhance their product.

Had a Tacoma DC LB 4x4 2006 Base model for 7 yrs, mentioned some in the survey they send after purchase (no cruise control, no intermittent wipers, flimsy tailgate, no seat height adjustment, no heated mirrors). Then I get a 2015 DC LB 4x4, some were corrected (cruise control, intermittent wipers now comes standard). Now they've released the 2016 with a beefier tailgate and damper shock, but still no seat height adjustment or heated mirrors. There may be some hope, but they don't react lightning fast, 'cause they don't need to; trucks are still selling well. They built their reputation on stellar reliability (thus awesome resale value), not gadgets, but the introduction of the GM twins MAY push them to add a few more comfort features...but those are things that eventually broke, so that's probably why they're reluctant to add them. As an example, I wish my truck doesn't have power windows. It's only one more thing that can break, and someone shouldn't really drive at all if he isn't able to rotate a handle, but people keep asking, so they add them.
