Peacock Flats Newbie Run

Some of the Jeep people are setting up a newbie run to the flats tentatively on the weekend of Nov 6th. This would be a good opportunity for some of you guys with well equipped trucks to come out and learn the real trails at the flats. I think it would be good for everyone if there was a mix of vehicles. I will try to make it in my Tacoma so I'm more on the level of you guys and you can see what to do better.

Requirements:
Armor - I would highly recommend having bumpers and sliders at the very least. Your trucks are expensive to repair if you smash the body panels up.

Lockers - I would highly recommend having at least one traction device. It is possible to do the trails with open diffs, but it will be very hard on your drivetrain and you will most likely end up getting towed by a Jeep over an obstacle.

4wd - You will be required to have 4wd. If you don't, you will not be allowed to follow the groups.

Recovery gear - Winches are great, but not necessary. Please at the very least have a good spare tire, recovery strap, and some sort of jack and tools to change a tire. If you have spare parts for items known to break, it would be a good idea to bring them, i.e. cv shafts, etc.

Scratches and dent - You may end up with scratches in the paint and small dents or fender flares and mud flaps torn off. If you're not comfortable with this happening, you should probably not go.


This will be a large group and it will be split up into smaller groups with at least two knowledgeable people leading and tailing the group. The event will be all day so packing a lunch and possibly dinner would be a good idea. As always bring lots of water as there is no running streams up there.

You will be off camber, you will have wheels off the ground, you may suffer some minor damage or breakage, and you may suck up some of your seat from puckering your okole. But remember, this is to challenge yourself and your rig all while having fun with others that enjoy this hobby.

Donkey trail for sure, maybe some of the shorter ones like kit kat and slip and slide.
