Nice, I was looking at one today. Thinking of picking up a shotgun for skeet shooting as well. Let me know your first impressions shooting with it.

probably be a while before i get to take it out for skeet. might use it for a turkey shoot or two next month. it comes w/ flush modified and IC chokes. they sell flush full chokes online, so i'll probably order one of those and move the modified down/ditch the IC.

No worries, I'm in no rush for a shotgun. Also looking at the stoeger m3000 since I'm lazy and want a cheap semi-auto.

    Gents,

If you're looking for a cheap o/u, an older Huglu would be impossible to beat for less than about $700. There happens to be one for sale on Gunbroker right now for $300. This is an insane deal. Even getting it for $450 would be a great buy and the gun would be of a much higher quality than any Stoeger, Mossberg Silver Reserve or Baikal/Remington.

    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=513863841

I have no ties to this auction, I just hate to see people spend hard-earned $$ on poorly built guns. I've seen so many Stoeger Condors literally fall apart after a season of sporting clays that I've lost count. No offense meant JH - I hope you got one of the good ones.

Looking at a used Savage 111 in '06 this afternoon. If it's in good shape I'll probably get it. Comes synthetic stocked with a Simmons 3X9X50, so nothing fancy. But I'm always on the lookout for a good cheap spare deer gun. :notsure:

IDK. I have zero experience with anything other than the TAB gear stuff. I know a few people that have had the SAS/R for a couple years with zero complaints. They work and hold up to whatever.

Aaaaaand it's mine. Bore and bluing are immaculate and it shot a 4-round test pattern you could cover with a quarter at about 50 yards. I just couldn't say no, so I talked him down to $225 and now it's in my truck.
Pics tonight if I remember, but it's just your basic blued synthetic Savage that everyone and their brother's got.

Holy $!!!!! I just looked and the SAS/R is almost 1/2 the cost... Materials and construction seem pretty similar.

    None at this time.
Picked this up from a co worker today. Might have 30 rounds through it. Rifle is new. First AR and brings back USMC nightmares. I slept with one for a little while.

Can look into a company called Armageddon. They make a cover that is similar to the others. Costs about the same as the Tab gear one. I have it on my bolt gun and it works well.

If you are looking for something for a bolt gun or semi auto, slower fire then the Tab gear or similar will work fine. if shooting full auto or constantly mag dumping id look into something like the riflesonly cover which can withstand a lot higher temps

Picked up my whitetail tags for rifle season, and also 100 rounds of 20 ga for an NRA charity shoot tomorrow. Picked up a full length die for my 308 so I could bump the shoulder on my brass, and some 130 grain Barnes TTSX bullets to load up for testing in my new Rem 700. Quit with the first group today when the first 3 rounds were inside an inch at 100 yds. Now it's time to load up 20 or so for sighting in and deer season.

Yeah I'm not fond of electronic pad. Manual combo just less prone to failure.
