Maybe someone can help me out. I am looking for a red (lens or led, not sure what is better) flashlight for hunting/walking in the dark. I need it to be small, bright but not too bright, and to last a long time on a battery. I have the led lenser t2qc, althought it is pretty cool i feel the light is too bright. Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions, the coleman seems too big (dimensions say 10") and need a handheld strictly, not interested in a headlamp. Somewhere out there is the perfect red light...

I used my Nitecore HC30 to light my way down a path to steelhead water way before first light Saturday morning. That little thing is awesome.

Looking for recommendations for a flashlight.
I want a rechargeable LED flashlight to keep in my truck.
Budget is ~$80, not sure on size but I don't want it to small, definetley want it smaller than a mag lite.

Looking at the nitecore MH40 for in the truck, and maybe a mh25 for daily carry.

Might as well spend a little more and do it right the first time.

Make sure you put a full charge on that baby. The battery is probably under 4 volts. Fully charged it will be 4.20 volts.

Remember, the light has to be switched to "ON" or it won't charge.

    Bone Stock.Why mess with perfection?Except...
I need a light to hunt missing cattle at night. It needs to throw a significant amount of light a couple of hundred yards. I'd like to be able to charge it with the cig lighter in the truck. Needs to be fairly water resistant because I almost never need them except when it's raining or sleeting. Just something about the nature of cattle and my luck. What does the TW think tank recommend to fit these specs?

nitecore tiny monster. forget charging in truck, get full set of spare batts, swap out
[cheap chinese version sky ray king]

you can charge in truck but the power required is more than just charging in 10 minutes, it takes a
while to charge multiple 18650 from 3.2 volts to 4.2

^^ Maybe just get a good charger (Nitecore D4) and be disciplined about bringing it inside to charge, or use the bed outlet.

The Nitecore MT40GT also has a wicked long range, but can't be charged in the truck: http://flashlight.nitecore.com/product/mt40gt

It's also a lot cheaper than the Tiny Monster series (around $75).
