Read threw all of this over the past few days.. There's some killer info here. I recently did this for my k10 as well as my 02 taco.. The taco has a bent main on the passenger side, but it'll have to do for now as I can't find any cheap mains.. Anywho, Doug; sorry to hear about all your loss over the past 1-2 years.. Your a good man and im glad you're now enjoying NV. Ca sucks anyway haha.

Do you happen to remember exactly what vehicle it was? I don't think Ive heard of a ford sportage, but I like the hight of you lift and from the sounds you like the ride quality so I would really like to do some investigating.

I completed rebuilding and installing my stock leaf pack yesterday and wanted to thank Doug and for this great idea and his continual help throughout this thread.

I had a Deaver J66 pack on the truck for just over a year, they were a mistake from the beginning. They rode great unloaded, but any weight in the bed coupled with the shell and the truck squatted badly. Not to mention the creaks and groans from almost the beginning. I'm sure for some the Deavers are a great pack, but they were not what I needed. I wanted minimal lift and their advertised 1.5" sold me on them.

Anyway, I used a Chevy 5 leaf pack year unknown but finding a decent donor pack in Northern Michigan proved to be the hardest part of the job. I used the stock main and overload coupled with 1 donor at 49" and another at 44". On my single cab w/ shell this gave me 1.5" over the Deavers.

    Final measurements: D-23.5" P-23.75"
    Thanks again Doug!

Ya know, I kinda wondered awhile back how you made out with your truck.....

Thanks for the kind words dude, it's been a couple difficult years for sure, now back in san diego for a while taking care of father in law, jeezus where does it end....

Thanks for the props ! & yeah , out of all the great springs that Deaver has the J66 was the biggest step backwards I've ever seen, still don't get their decision to market them...

It makes me glad to see that this MOD is still being used successfully I haven't built any for a long time & can't till i get a permanent address, theres a couple members here i need to take care of that think i've forgotten them but i haven't...;)

Hey Doug what is your opinion on why guys with your spring mod are leaving without vibes and some of us going with AAl or Aftermarket springs are having vibe issues? I went with Dakars and have take off vibes 20-30mph vibes..Just curious on what you think:) @4WD

Possibly these springs are less stiff, letting the axle wrap upwards as you drive making the vibes less.

I just need to find the leafs haha. But I'm afraid of them not being equal on each side when I install them. I guess we shall see.

Yeah I mean unless one side of the truck had more weight than the other it should be ok.

I really haven't looked too hard yet lol, gotta start calling yards near me then outside my area if those are no good.

I have to ask, has any taken 2015 leafpacks off a TRD offroad and combined it with a 06 TRD offroad leaf packs , too make your own leaf packs? I purchased leaf packs off of a 2015 TRD and was thinking of taking them apart and adding my 06 leaves to make a leaf pack. what do you think ?

I think the whole point of OMD mod is to replace the spongy weak toyota leafs with some good american steel.. but maybe @4WD will chime in;)

Exactly, someone else asked the same question, to which the answer was: you could combine two sets of pos leafs to make them slightly better, but in the end they will still sag and deteriorate
