sweet, not bad at all. I only get 600-700km a tank on my jetta,
I know its a bigger tank and more to fill but it bothers me more needing to stop twice a week to fill up haha. I fill up once every two weeks if all I do is driving to and from work and then just grocery shopping etc, maybe going out on the weekend a little. So thats fine with me.

Honestly would only cost me probably $30 extra to fill, not all that bad.

Not bad at all. I'll miss filling my old beater Jetta every two weeks though, could go 800 km to a 40 L tank.

I have one 50/50 accident on my record, which will be off in spring. and one speeding ticket left that will be off in august. So no point looking any time before that. My record was so bad when I bought my car I had to be insured as a secondary and put it under my dads name. Plus being under 25 at the time.

with all I have done I'm lucky to get 700km highway/50L tank.
So if you're getting 600/tank will be fine haha.

Definitely an improvement from your subi right? the Boxer engine is a pig

I don't recall what size gas tank she had, but it cost me $80 to fill her (I think a 55 L tank) with 94 octane, that got me 400km if I was lucky.

Bit of a tangent, but how do you guys feel about lease vs finance? When I went in yesterday, I was set on finance, because I've always financed vehicles and I'm stubborn. But given the very high resale value of Tacoma's, leasing seems viable because you will always be able to sell or buyout at lease end without losing money. Lease rates are about a percentage above financing currently, and with a security deposit of $5500 (refunded on lease end), lease rates are reduced a further 1.5%. Wins all around?

I put too much mileage for lease, and I do not like leaving the vehicle completely stock. Mind you with a Taco I would probably only do an exhaust, air intake and lift. But still all things you cant really do under lease.

Not sure how true it was but was talking with someone at a car meet once about this who was leasing a F150 Raptor and he said the dealer told him if he went off roading then he wouldn't get his safety deposit back...I dunno how true it was it sounds like bullshit to me, but still I've heard too many horror stories about leasing. If you get any little dings in the door you pay out the ass for it.

All in all not a fan of lease. Rather finance, less restrictions on what you can do.

Are you modifying the truck? What mileage will you put on the truck? How long is the lease term you are looking at? Will you be happy if the Tacoma is a bit of a lemon being locked in that long?

In general, when the lease rate is higher than the finance rate, there is no reason to lease unless you are a business. For a business you can claim back the lease as an expense and it looks much better on your books than an asset. A lease is just paying off depreciation instead of owning the vehicle. That's it. It sounds great but you can get stuck with a ton of fine print and charges if something should go wrong because you don't own the truck. You are expected, and contracted, to return it in prime condition.

I never lease. If I change jobs I might over mileage the vehicle ($$$$), I like mods ($$$$), I don't want to find out a repair was done wrong and be liable ($$$$), and I hate the idea of being trapped by a, usually more expensive than trading, buyout on the long term good price leases.

It's true. Read any lease contract for an individual lease very closely. Usually it will specify the truck is for non commercial and on legal road use only. Break those rules and if the dealer finds out:

I just found out the best they could do for me on a 60 month loan is 4.24% financing thru an outside bank, I don't know what I did to not be able to get toyota's 4% - they came back with 4.7%.

sounds like audi haha. I remember for my sisters wedding my brother in law was looking at renting a Audi R8, they told him if the tires have any indication of you doing a burn out they keep your 10 000 security deposit.

I fully intend on buying out or selling at lease end, so mileage allowances, modifications, etc don't matter. So again, if that's my intent, seems like a winning scenario?

I'm not entirely familiar with lease when it comes to buyout but wouldn't yu still need to pay for those extra miles?

No, that's only if you are returning the vehicle.

up to you then I guess

like @Sterdog said though, if you can't write it off as business then its not really worth it.
I know a lot of real estate agents do lease because of that, they can write it off. My line of work I can't so no point to me.

If you don't mind spending a few thousand more to lease and then buy it at the end vs buying it up front.

Unless you modify the truck, unless you get in an accdent, and unless you have to get rid of the truck before the lease expires, then maybe.

You won't have to pay for the extra miles but your buyout cost will go up equally. Make sense?

In general view few individuals win with a lease.

Weird. Did you just buy a home or do you have a high amount of Credit Card debt?

Walk into your local bank that you do your mortgage with. Try to get a loan from them. If it's over 4%, tell them Toyota is offering 4% on the Tacoma over 60 months but you'd rather be with them. They might match or beat it.

That's the only thing I can think of, I've had my mortgage for over two years now. I have no credit card debt and never have, but I recently applied for a line of credit for house remodelling in the spring and while I was there they talked me into getting a Mastercard to supplement my visa from another bank. Perhaps that looks bad?

On the bright side, 4.2% is still less than my current 7%, but the 1% for the 2015 tacos was definitely more appealing.
