I wouldn't worry about it. I'm pretty sure these black ones have the graphite based on handling them.

However, I don't think it's going to matter for a bushing sandwich application.

It's not like the bolt is rotating or the washers move either so I don't think these will ever make any noise whatsoever.

An anti-sway bar bushing, or a UCA/LCA bushing, or leaf spring bushing, all which have regular torsional forces applied to it are another story, and those are probably much more likely to produce squeaking.

    I lost track...
Thank you for the info, is there any specific grease you guys would recommend to apply to them before I install?

Finally installed mine right now. Passenger side went in no problem but the driver side was a bitch! The bolt was off center it took a lot of pry bar action and fenagling to get the bushing to seat right. I did big bushing on top. Truck feels real solid now

i know you removed the top washer because it may have been causing noise but the bushing is a poly bushing and i think that maybe the washer is there to prevent the metal from damaging the polyurethane and preventing early wear...the washer would be the part to receive the scratches and stress instead of the bushing itself.

and maybe it gives the busing a nice flat surface to sit on where as the metal of the truck could be putting more stress directly in some areas of the bushing and not others

i can adjust the height of your hood. all you have to do is lift it and find the little rubber mounts that it rest on (they will be on the bottom of the hood itself) and turn them. if you want it lower then tighten them and loosen them if you want the hood raised.
i messed with mine once and cant get the dang hood to sit right how i want it

open the hood and turn those little rubber knobs that the hood rest on...tighten them and it should bring the hood down..just adjust it as need to get it back to the height you want

Just bought the 9.4101G kit and installed it based on the directions others provided. I put on the larger (#4023) bushing on top as some people suggested. It was difficult to get in with the added thickness of the sleeve molded into it. I then realized Energy Suspension sent a wrong bushing (#4020 instead of 4021) so I only had one set. I tightened down the front right and compared it with the stock front left one. It appears it brings the core support about 0.3" further away from the frame than the stock bushing. I assume this would be putting more torque on the body panels since it will be higher than the rest of the body mounts. I ended up putting it back in with the smaller bushing up top (as the directions indicated) and after it was installed it was about 0.075" closer to the frame than stock position. I thought I would share since they screwed up and sent me the wrong bushing so I could compare it with the stock setup. Attached is a pic of what they sent me.

Just a heads up...I installed these ES's about 3-4 years ago after the stocks were toast. At the time the radiator support was already cracking. After installing the cracks continued, even thru the channel piece right above the bushing. I plated the area and the crack broke thru the plates. I since replaced the entire support with a cheapo chinese but before installing the new I plated the entire unit to make sure the radiator stays in the truck. I literally added 4x the amount of metal the support had. My inner fender wells are not connected to the cab any longer either. I am NOT easy on my truck.

I will be ordering the cab mounts soon. Thanks for posting the part number. I too called Energy a few years ago and they said they didn't have anything.

Just installed my set today. Is it me, or does the front end nose-dive less during braking with these on?

Yeah so I tried to install my new body bushings, but the bolts that mount the bushing to the frame would not bulge, they almost started rounding. I need a side ratchet impact to get them suckers off. My frame was replaced two months back and I'm kicking myself for not installing them then. :( I got my 1/2" bodylift installed though

Installed all 6 last night according to the instructions, no hood issues or squeaking of the washer on the frame or cab. I bought the 9.4101 and the 8.4109 and am pretty happy how the rad. support is in the kit itself so if anyone wants to grab the 9.4101 give me a shout $25 new in box and it should fit in a small flat rate box.

Meant to ask, did you remove the bolts from the tab retainer? You have to turn them right just a bit to free them then you should be able to turn the bolt/remove it. I had them on just the 2 rears, for whatever reason Toyota decided they just wanted the extra safety back there. If you need pictures let me know.

It is still relevant in this application actually. I know that first hand because I was attempting to track down a gnarly squeak I had once in which I could not figure out where it was coming from. After getting in the front of the vehicle and jouncing it a few times I determined it was indeed coming from the stock bushings area. I ended up spraying some silicone spray on them and in them and all noise ceased after that point.

Now the issue could had just been attributed to the fact that they are just THAT sloppy, but when it comes down to it, I don't want to be chasing ghosts, so I'd rather not risk it, play it safe and get black graphite impregnated bushings for these.

    Just a thought.

I saw you on TTORA. A while back. I was wondering where you had went and it's good to see you are still around. Can you explain to me a little better what you mean by the inner fender wells are no longer connected to the cab?

For a truck they really went with the cheapest soda can thickness metal you could use for these. Many (including myself) seem to think these trucks are/were offroad ready, when the reality is they really just aren't without doing a few key mods to them first.

    I lurk a lot and don't post.

My inner fenders started cracking soon after I go the truck and abusing it. My inner fender well is broken away from the cab and has been for a while now. I have it plated and connected to the body thru a bushing plated under the hood hinge. It's hard to explain and pictures really won't do it justice. Basically my front radiator support has been replaced and the new one I plated top to bottom-left to right. The plating continues to just before the main body. This is where the plating comes from the hood hinge (the part of the body the hood bolts to is plated). The two connect with a tube bushing.

PM me pictures. Hell if you want, you could just text me (925) 457-5614 you don't live even that far away from me and I had been trying to figure out what you did with your support and wheel wells for a long time.

So I installed these a little while back and just noticed today that my hood flutter seems to be gone.

I put them in with the thinner bushing on top.
