    yeah im from California, played all over for a while, but hung up the boots competitively a while ago with a shoulder injury. Thanks to the kings practice facility it gives me a place to play, but damn is it expensive!

    I can only imagine. We play year round up here as it is pretty reasonable as far as expense goes. During the coldest three months of the year we play outdoor shinny which is the best of all!

    Chance for injury has got to be #1 reason. I'd still play if it wasn't for beer league idiots crashing the net like they're being watched by a pro scout. I did love to give a good blocker shimmy & axe chop to those who got too close, but not enough to risk a jammed neck with busted vertebrae when concentrating on the puck.

    True enough, the ratio of idiots in beer league hockey is pretty high. Which is why I actually now play a lot with guys who simply rent weekly ice times, throw the sticks in the pile and divide them in half. Eliminates useless faceoffs and self-important refs. With 10 guys per side you get tons of ice time.
