image.jpg Hey guys good news! 285/75/16 fit on the stock suspension and look great! I got the Toyo Open Country AT2. Sorry for the poor pics I got the truck back just before dark. I'm hitting the trails this weekend and will post better pics.

Please see updates. Use this to compare 285/75/R16 vs 265/75/R16 (which I am now running)

    Update
With 285's only place it is rubbing is on the upper control arm (UCA) when fully stuffed and fully locked the wheel in one direction (Does not hit if you back off full steering wheel lock, just an inch or two). No rubbing in the fender well. I just recently discovered this after pushing in the fender well. You will need wheel spacers in the front with stock rims to get the proper backspacing. I ordered 1.25" spidertrax which I will install this weekend and report back. I am also holding off on the lift until I hear more from the manufacturers. This is need to happen regardless of lift or not. Hope this helps!

    Update 2
I have returned the 285's. I disliked the thought of spacers. But what mostly did it for me was the gearing... and the shift points being all messed up... It just felt too bogged down with the 3.5 and not having that low end torque like the 4.0. So, be advised, you may want to regear, or look at a 255/85/17 if your just worried about rubbing the UCA.

    Update 3
I have put on 265/75/R16 BFG AT KO2 Load E and I am very happy with them. They're more practical... But goddam this truck looks sexy with 285's...one day

Onto the pics! This is before.

    And After! With 285/75/R16

    And now 265/75/R16

Wait. So it only rubs at full turn?

Anyways, that looks nice as hell. Congrats.

    Thank you!
But only rubbing when fully stuffed, off camber, in the front inner wheel well, when locked in the opposite direction. Normal driving I have no rubbing. Only Off-road. I'm hitting the trails this weekend and will get much better pics, it's dark now.

Hey, Treehugger are those 10ply? What's fuel economy and acceleration like compared to before the upgrade in tires?

Yea they're the 10 PLY load E. Acceleration dropped a tad but nothing very noticeable. The MPG dropped about 1MPG. Hard to say though so far as I was on the logging roads for a 10 miles with about 125 on the highway.
    y.
They are the Toyo AT 2 regular I believe... I haven't seen the extremes but these have the crazy deep lugs. We run theses on all the work trucks and they're still relatively quiet on the highway.

Remember that the actual size between tire manufactures and models will differ. It's usually not by a bunch, but a few tenths of an inch (which is typical) can make a difference in rubbing or not. Check manufacturer specs.

A quick check on the OP's tires show an overall diameter of 32.8". Others, like the BFG MTR with Kevlar, spec at 33.1". That's a .4" different (over 3/8" difference for those who prefer fractions).

It'll be good to hear from someone who fits this size with a spec on the tall end, as to whether or not the rubbing is worse than the OP experienced.

Hit some water bars pretty hard and fully compressed the front suspension. It scrubbed in that same inner front spot I still need get the heat gun out. Probably need to push it in 1/2' to be certain it will never hit again.

Excellent Point! And I believe those on the taller end could see more significant rubbing. Look forward to hear back from some others on the tall end.

    Thank you!

I am currently up on the north Olympic Peninsula, WA between Forks and Port Angeles. Most of these pictures are on my companies property and logging roads. Very fortunate we have property against Olympic National Park and on the Juan de Fuca Strait. Makes for some incredible scenery.

Thanks for great info! My truck comes in next week. Would you be able to post a photo of the specific area you where rubbing occurs? Would like to take care of it while truck is on the lift.
