Keep in mind marketshare "losses" are less interesting because the market seems to be growing as more companies jump in. I think Toyota lost something like 10-15% market share last year, but then again the market for small trucks grew by something like that over the same time span. Which means the effect on Toyota is really pretty small.

All bolt ons + tuning solution. Capable of running high 13's.
I wonder if one day you have the chance to drive a Twin with the trifecta tune on it will change your point of view.

Many people agree that is a night/day difference.

    Your comparison makes no sense.

If someone wants a 4-door pickup, they are not going to buy a Supercab, they are going to buy a Supercrew.

It made perfect sense to me. Not everyone looks at comparisons the same. If they did, well, special perks vehicles like the Tacoma would probably not even exist.

I lot of the reason I didn't like the Canyon was the design of the truck...the bed is high, you kinda have to look over it...and they front-end seems bulky/heavy. the '16 Taco's front-end looks big, but doesn't feel it

Conclusion...A bunch of People KEEP their Tacomas....Furthermore Tacoma out sells and out sold GM small trucks buy a huge margin..Conclusion....Far more Tacomas still on the road and not for sale

Full size belongs to Ford....but no one who wants a mid size wants a full size as they can get one easily at the same price. Personally I would never buy anything made by GM again.

    This,
I finally had a chance to see Colorado underbelly, I see people complaining about clearance but underside of Colorado is pretty clean, like its almost flat belly ready.
So the lowest point is that plastic air dam at the front, but quite frankly I would rather be hitting crap with plastic $200 air dam than $600 exhaust pipe attached to $3000 or catalytic converters. One item I like it is that front suspension has room to run snow chains on the front tires.

I disagree. Unless you cannot physically fit a full size where you go, it's definitely an option. The price gap between a full size and midsize is equal to the physical size difference. F150 and friends are only slightly bigger than Tacoma and friends and the price difference is only 1 or 2 thousand more for full-size.

So if you can deal with a slightly bigger vehicle, you get way more truck for your money with full size

No one is arguing you don't get more truck for the money going full size. The argument is Some of us DON'T WANT a larger a truck at any price.

We all could have purchased one and chose the smaller foot print. I can get a Full size in my garage but I do not want to putt around town in a full size truck. I don't need any more interior room that the Tacoma offered. Driving a Tacoma and F150 is apples and oranges. The F150 is just to much truck for those of us who prefer the spend the same or more on the Tacoma.

Understood. For me coming from a first gen, they're all going to be huge comparatively so the slight increase in mass of a current full-size compared to a current mid size makes no difference to me.

wrong my friend. The super cab has four doors and if people were smart, they would look at a super cab v crew cab Toyota short bed.
The super cab has four doors, and only the rear door design is different. The WB of each is closer, super cab and crew cab SB are close, the interior room is similar and the weight and the cost are closer.

Just because you compare the name crew cab for Toyota and crew cab for F150 does not mean they are similar vehicals. The comparisons you make make no sense. Look at the picture I posted...the interior room of the super cab and crew cab Toyota are quite alike. The crew cab for the F150 is HUUUUGE.
I maintained that the crew cab F150 resembles the crew cab Toyota in only one way...rear opening doors. In every other way, the crew cab Toyota resembles the super cab Ford150. If people don't get that, they aren't very good astute shoppers.

The F150 is like driving a couch behind a desk..........That is the impression I got when I test drove one. :ohsnap:The passenger is in another zip code...

My neighbor just bought an F250? Diesel 4x4 to tow his fifth wheel. That thing is HUGE in and out. I would never need or want a full size truck. Another neighbor has a new Tundra...Again huge and wide.

Rear opening doors on both Tacomas and Fords are a PIA when trying to load a shopping cart Costco run behind the seats. Another neighbor has the access cab and won't buy another for that reason. The access area is too small and the doors opening backwards was a PIA

The Tacoma Crew cab is just the right size for most hauling and having a nice sized interior cargo area behind the seats.

The super cab f150 is on bottom, the Taco BCSB is on top
The f150 appears to have more leg room and is definitely wider, and they both have 4 doors. I compare vehicles by size, not by name. The F150 is the only thing ford makes that you can compare with a Taco CcSB So you compare them by size......just because one has doors opening backwards and one forward, length wise they are closer as well as weight then any other two vehicles. If forward opening doors are important not to have, then prepare to spend a lot more for the f150 and get a much bigger garage then for a Taco...it's a totally differnt size.

Btw, one inch more legroom in SC ford then double cab Taco,

That's the intent. If I take someone to Calgary in the back of my Tacoma they hate me by the time we get there. In the back of the F150, well they can't whine because they spread out and fell asleep :D

That's fine if you don't like the doors. But that does not alter the fact that the rear seat of a crew cab Taco does not have as much room as the rear seat of a super cab f150
The super cab is much wider sand has an inch more leg room ;-)

I don't disagree with that. IF I were going to buy a full size it would be the "access cab" version despite the horrid backward opening doors, not the full crew.

That's the one downside to the F150.

Every other fullsize truck has standard doors in the back of their middle size cab except for Ford.

This is why I got my extended/access cab with deleted rear seats. No fully grown person was EVER going to fit back there comfortably. Instead I get toolboxes in the floor and room for a dog to lay down / junk storage. It's a truck, not a passenger-vehicle.

If people need a ride that bad, there is a whole lot of bed to go around.
