But my comedy brought flames to a halftime speech about douchbaggery... Then we all talked about BBQ sauce and various animals to put it on.... Then I realized this a Tacoma forum... Might as well use the Tacoma to pick up the BBQ sauce.... Any gen can get there.

Now that the dealer failed and it's documented, I would leave it on the incline after starting it and leave it running until it takes care of itself then have it towed to the same dealership the diagnosis will be simple then.

Coming to this site for information is like going to webmd with a cold and after reading you're convince it's cancer and you've got 2 days to live. I took my truck back to Toyota today. It now has 200 miles on it. They put it on an incline and had the same problems occur as I did. It will be staying with them at least for the weekend. They don't think it's an oil pump but don't really know. He said if the oil pump was bad I wouldn't have made it to them. They think it may be a computer problem. They said they may have to call in a specialist from Toyota because the trucks are so new they don't really have the best idea about how to fix it. So my new Tacoma looks surprisingly like a blue Hyundai Accent from enterprise rent-a-car.

Unlike a Hypochondriac using WebMD to make themselves sick, your truck seems to have a genuine problem that can be fixed by genuine truck-doctors (dealership mechanics) for free.

And they gave you a rental to boot! Be glad it wasn't a Prius with a set of pedals for those tough hills :)

On a serious note it'll be interesting what they find, I personally can't see how anything electrical could be it.

It really irritates me all of the read outs that Toyota puts in the Tacoma but you can't tell your oil pressure... It's very stupid.

LMAO so true I wonder why the moderators put up with such BS. By the way in the last six years, due to cancer lost two and two survived and I still enjoyed your (sic) humor. I hope they take care of you right with no BS .

Well here is my opinion and you are free to disregard that...
First, avoid the guy who told you its computer problem. He is either stupid or malicious. Stupid because computer does not control oil pump nor switch. Malicious because by saying its computer he is already preparing to not give you new engine and you should get new engine because if you put 200 miles on engine with not enough oil pressure, it can only get worse from this point forward.

Second, oil pump/pickup issue is not new. So them saying they don't know what it is, is pretty stupid. Here let me give you an example.
    http://www.yotatech.com/f116/low-oi...oing-up-incline-temp-gauge-fluctuating-90121/
It dates back all way to 3.slo which is the little turd cousin of the engine thats in your truck..
The only truthful thing they said was that they have to wait for Toyota Eng to check it out. They want to know if this is just that truck or they have problem with more engines.

Now here is what they probably going to do. Drop both oil pans (No1 and No2), remove timing chain cover with oil pump. Replace all that with new parts, because your parts are going back to Toyota, than give you truck back, with some lame excuse (like we updated software in blinker fluid control module, or we took apart but found nothing and no longer can replicate the problem) because thats cheaper than swapping engine and dealing with fallback.

For having so little, true data on this problem, you sure seem to have all the answers.

I'm glad this is a big forum. No smaller forum would be able contain your huge ego.

If its all the same, I think that all wait to see what the dealers find. My bet its gonna be something simple and not threatening to the engine.

Well...at least I made it to page 4 before the "fanboy" term was thrown out! :D

OP.....good luck brother. Sorry you're having trouble. As big a pain in the ass as it is....she is under warranty and will be fixed. That's why these things have warranties.....no machine is perfect.

OP, is it the oil pressure light that comes on or the oil level light? They look the same except the oil level warning light has a squiggly line under the oil can.

So your comparing the OP's issue with 86 - 95 engines by toyota.
Has your 2ng Gen Toyota have this issue? Mine didn't nor does a friends Tacoma.

Think it would be best to wait for the OP to reply.

(if you looked closely, your oil pressure gauge and light are fake. They just go to a preset indicator level.:D
