I will be, I just bought a pelican 10' angler. I have been using a banks board, but got tired of being exhaust by the time I swim out to where I want to dive.

I've done that there a few times (kayak) with a buddy of mine. I've done a ton of surface swim dives from mortuary beach as well and it is, literally, a drag. Best place is at Point Lobos, Whalers Cove. Launch from the boat ramp in the protected cove and paddle out to Blue Fish cove or go further around the point. You have to be careful as there is a point where your not supposed to cross as it's protected.

I got tossed there a few weeks ago on entry. I had my mask on and reg in so all was good.

I'm actually thinking of getting my dry suit knee pads reinforced due to all the crawling I do there.
I find I like to dump the air out of my BC and suit when I'm about 15 feet from the white water. That way I'm stuck to the bottom at least a little and get more traction when crawling.

That's a good plan. I would hug the bottom until I got as close as I could then try and ride a wave in. Once I was washed up I would dig my hands and knees into the gravel as the wave receded (trying to drag me back in). Then scramble like mad before the next wave came and spread your gear everywhere... I did a few of my qualifying dives there while getting my Rescue Certification. Man, trying to extracate my "unconscious" buddy out of the water was a bitch. I found it was best to take him in like a surfboard!

I only did tank. I never could get a decent time holding my breath. We used high pressure steel 100's w/european DIN fittings and could be under for more than an hour. Haven't been diving there in years - I miss it, but not the cold.

Have an old school Coleman grill I'd like to get out of my garage. Takes a little more elbow grease than the new ones but much more solidly built. Have a container of white gas too. Make me an offer if you wish.

White Gas is also called Camp Fuel and is made of Naptha. I don't remember what mix of petroleum makes it up but it was common when I was growing up in the 70's for camping stoves and those old lanterns that used that white mesh mantle. I wonder how available it is now?

That's a cool stove and it brings back some good memories. We would go camping in Yosemite every year when I was a kid and we used one of those. I had one when I was in the Army in the late 80's. When we would do a rotation at the NTC (a few weeks in the Mojave desert) I would pack that stove and a laundry bag full of soup, stew and Chef Boyardee ravioli in the back of my Humvee and eat very well (comparatively speaking).

It's still pretty common. I picked this up at Sport Chalet if I'm not mistaken.

You have to fill that red tank up, and pump to get and maintain pressure. Not much, but it's a little manual.

That's a great price. If I needed It I'd be all over it.

I have a 413g from 1964. I've been wanting to fix it up but I never seem to get around to it.

I have new one that runs on propane and like you said it's not build nearly as well.
