    That's quite the assumption!!

I am actually fairly mechanically inclined, however this is my first vehicle newer than 2006. Hell, my last car didn't even have a CEL it was so old. I have, however, spent my adult years modifying vehicles (VW and Subaru) on my own. Have done the timing belt, clutch, axles, wheel bearings, suspension, torn down a blown engine, and all the regular maintenance... I would call myself fairly mechanically inclined.

I would also say, that it's because I'm mechanically inclined and care about my vehicles that when I see a warning light flashing on the dash every couple seconds, it leads me to believe something may be wrong, so I check, and not just ignore it.

Sorry OP but a basic mechanic with even somewhat of an understanding of vehicles would have an understanding of why the message was being displayed. Its like saying I turned my 2nd gen to the ON position but didn't turn the truck over and all the lights came on in the dash so something must be wrong with my truck since every indicator light came on. :facepalm:Shouldnt be new to most people who own a car let alone a mechanic. Maybe the new info message thing just tripped you up a bit. In my mind I would rule that to be the case. But hey no stupid questions I guess.

No offense and very cool you build subbies.

    blens,

Thanks for posting your concern so that the rest of us can be made aware, all of us who are taking the plunge and purchasing the 2016 right out of the gate need to share info on things we notice with our new trucks, sharing knowledge benifits all of us and just has importantly, documents potential issues so there is a record for all of us.

Just like the member in another thread who shared that he notices his oil warning light goes on if he is parked on an incline, now, we all know about it and can watch for it, and if more folks have that problem we then know that it is something Toyota needs to deal with and there will be shared info on this site about what they need to do to fix.

Thanks for the info and I am glad that it is nothing to worry about!

blens sounds like he/she is more mechanically inclined than about 75% of the users on this site and shared something that seemed unusual for the "those" who have, or will have a 2016, nothing more nothing less...

Some folks are a little quick on the Flame Button.

Yeah wtf OP? You come to a 3rd generation Tacoma forum to ask a question about your 3rd gen Tacoma? Do you even mechanic bro? Don't you know you have to be master mechanic to participate on these forums? You're obviously too big of a noob to own a new Tacoma. Take it back to the dealer and GTFO of TacomaWorld.

    perfect.

now just need some threads made about dismantling the dash board lol.
want to be able to have my dash cam set up like I do now.

Theres an extra 12v outlet behind the glovebox (i put in) tied into the other and then just hid all the wiring down the side of the window. Can never tell I have the dash cam unless you look right behind the mirror.

I know someone who is 24 and can't change a flat tire in a flat, paved parking lot. He got a couple this summer and called friends to come help him every time.

I'd bet that even every female friend I have knows how to do that.

He's a pathetic individual in many other ways too, though.
