I think the other big downside to Ford F150 supercab is that Ford left out the crash safety aspect of it. The supercrew has safety devices built into it, whereas the supercab doesn't.

This will apparently be remedied on the 2016's. At least that's what Ford has claimed.

Been trying to figure out forever why people in this thread are comparing a full size truck to a mid size truck. There IS no comparison.

Yes there is. When the "midsizes" are basically the same size as full sizes were 8 years ago and pretty close to the same size as full sizes today in some configurations, you can compare them. When they cost almost the same, and sometimes more since the full sizes often have tons of rebates to lower their costs, you can compare them.

"Pretty close" is not the same. No matter the configuration or engine size, one is a full size truck, the other isn't.

Park a 16 DCLB Tacoma next to a full size. Is there really a difference to you? You seem to be caught up on the labels and not the realities.

My prior was a 2011 DCLB. They are the same length, but the full size is wider and roomier. Why? Because it's a full size truck.

I never said they were the EXACT same size. I said they are the same size that "full size" trucks USED to be not too long ago. And they are like 95% the same as current midsize trucks. Current full size trucks are also bigger than older 3/4 ton trucks used to be. Everything keeps getting bigger. So what the LABEL says is full size keeps changing with time. So just because the LABEL says something doesn't mean the reality of the situation hasn't changed.

    Lakeshow,

Your quote is what I'm talking about. The V6 Ford even has a higher towing capacity. They're not in the same class. What you're doing by comparing the two Is akin to comparing a 4-door Wrangler to a Galanderwagen because they are both close in length...

And what you're doing is looking for excuses to dismiss legitimate comparisons because you don't like the results when those comparisons occur.

I could care less of the results, dude. I know what I bought-a midsize truck. If I want to compare within the class, I'd stick to the Twins and Frontiers out there. To compare two different classes of vehicles is asinine.

Says you. You are 1 person. 1 potential buyer. The millions of others all likely do it and factor it into their purchase considerations. You may call it asinine. Others do it and use it to decide which vehicle offers the best value and use for their needs.

Fair enough. Most people shopping for a fullsize truck tend to compare Silverados to Rams and F150s, not Tacomas. One man's meat is another's poison.

Most people buying Tacoma's tend to compare them to the twins and the full sized trucks. Some people find out the full sized trucks are to big for their needs and driving habits. Others figure out they can have more truck for nearly the same money. Neither opinion is wrong. That's why discussions like this exist.

I parked next to a last-gen f150 4x4 today and remembered this thread. Just eyeballing the two of them, I honestly could not tell you which truck is bigger. They're that close.

Yeah, either you are reading Silverado wrong or GM just took an about face and fell right into a shit pile.

You mean, off Sierras... That would be correct... I went to the local Chevy dealer a few weeks ago and they had a sale with 10K of Chevy Silverado...
