Supercharger

is supercharger tacoma better on gas mileage or worse than the stock? Assistant service manager from toyota dealer told me that supercharger increases horsepower which i know that but decreases gas mileage. Is it true?

 

More HP means more gas to the cylinders. Lower gas mileage.

 

When I first installed the SC I was getting around 15city/19hwy.
Now with the addition of the udr headers and ypipe I'm now at 16.5city/21hwy.
But that is with me making sure I keep my throttle input below 30%. When I go above that mpg really drop

 

Ok. I am not teally happy with the power right now with the stock that is why i would like to get the supercharger. I was given a qoute of $6200+tax here in san diego. Is this too much?

 

I would make sure they have the SC in stock. If they are telling you they can order it I call BS

 

Assistant service manager told me he is going to order but it is not guarantee they have it on stock.

 

Then they don't have it and can't get it.

Note that there is no fit kit, and finding a fit kit is harder than a finding a SC.

You can't order it. The parts were discontinued and the program cancelled. Well, you could but it will never show up and it will later be cancelled. Magnuson, the manufacture, bought the rights from Toyota and will produce an aftermarket version without the TRD logo, but it is not yet available, LCE said maybe by year end.

Edit: MPG impact is supposed to be minimal if you stay out of boost, as it only takes 1/2 hp to turn the SC.

 

You really don't need a fit kit. I ended up using a fit kit from a fj. The only part of that whole fit kit I used was the heat exchanger. Even then I could have just had a heat exchanger made and saved my self money.
