Hello to all from Cold Lake, Alberta,Canada; I am new to this forum and all I have read and seen of the new Tacoma was impressive. I just finished a test drive of the 2016 Tacoma auto 4x4 double door with the sport upgrade which proved to be puzzling. I was surprised to find out that the crawl control was not available in this model in Canada Does anyone know why crawl control only available in the 4x4 access can model

Was the four door an offroad? Crawl control only comes with the TRD Offroads.

Dealership claims this option is only available in the access cab in Canada. My question would be why as it seems to me to only be a different cab or vehicle builds

    They are just different configurations

In the US you can get the TRD Offroad in an Access Cab , Double Cab Short bed or Double Cab Long bed

That sucks you guys don't get the four door offroad in Canada. Seems odd they wouldn't offer it.

    Access cab

Four door with short bed. Also has longbed option (at least in the US)

Main difference on the Sport vs Offroad is Sport has a hoodscoop and "sport tuned" shocks. Offroad has locker, crawl control, and Bilstein shocks.

Am wondering too if it might be Canadian car regulations that may differ making some models not available.

Well I decided to contact Toyota Canada and this was their response.

Thank you for your recent correspondence concerning our 2016 Truck line up.

With regard to the options available, such in the case of crawl control, market trends are closely studied to give us a better idea of what vehicles and options are in demand. Then based on our findings, our Product Planning department is able to choose those vehicles and options that best suit the needs of the buying public. We recognize, of course, that these choices may not meet the needs and fulfill the desires of all potential customers. However, we have noted your comments and have forwarded them to our Product Planning department for their information and future consideration.

We are pleased to learn of your interest in our products and we thank you once again for taking the time to write.

    Sincerely,
    Christopher Krascek
    Customer Interaction Centre
    Toyota Canada Inc.

All I can say to this is Canadian Toyota enthusiasts need to be more demanding when it comes to purchasing their product
