That Snap-On balancer would be awesome to have a go with. I wish Costco would just let me use their tire mounting machine and balancer because I could get mine perfect then.

Pretty familiar with loud Subis around here because it is a college town. Every flat brim hat wearing, monster energy decal having kid with an EJ series engine has a muffler that could rival a combine during harvesting season. My Flowmaster 40 series is probably the quietest muffler in my apartment's parking lot, and I never get on the gas hard in the lot so I don't annoy anyone trying to study or sleep.

For the most part the neighbors are okay. Only have 3 lol. One of which is a small engine mechanic, I borrow his tools all the time, great guy. But you aren't wrong. this state is turning to shit so fast. We're gonna be a colder california pretty soon if the state gets their way. Everything is getting banned, taxes just keep going up, the roads keep getting worse. I can't see myself living anywhere else, but if this state keeps going in this direction I'll move to Maine. Not to mention half the population are complete dickheads. Snobs everywhere around here, especially towards the Stowe area. What a joke that town is. Not to mention every other person is on welfare. Welfare around here is a career option, last I checked a family with 4 kids on welfare will make over 40k a year. I work 2 jobs and make just over half that. It's a joke that is completely unfunny.

I've got an 88 volvo 740 that is 3 inch straight piped turbo back, and it is a whisper compared to most of the kids around here. My blow off valve is loud as hell but nothing I can do about that. But yeah, where I work is right near a big college. The amount of v6 mustangs with spoilers and fart cans are just about as high as the Subarus with no exhaust systems. Gotta love the sponsored by mom and dad rides these college kids have. Must be nice to get hand outs

    Flexed it out today

The tire did rub on the shock body. I have 1 3/4 in of travel left in the shock and 7 inch from the bottom of frame rail to flip plate. So my 4.5 inch bumpstops arnt going to work, unless I make them longer. Or get some shorter shocks. But then again the dakars are pretty negative right there, so not much more uptravel should really be used. But I heard dakars are suppose to go negative some, there designed to.

No, idk why I didn't either. The tire was pretty stuffed, but there was still room.

Do you think some wheel spacers might help with the shock rub?

Yes, but I really didn't want to, the rims are already 3.5bs and I didn't want them push out any further. I honestly probably won't be flex out all the way like that very often.

But ya if you had wheel spacers you could use all the 13" of travel. But you going to be putting the dakars way negative. You could maybe mess with the shock mount more and get it not to rub, not sure though.

I hear ya. I like the outboard mount. Is it possible to move the mounts in a little more or will the shock hit the frame?

oops, missed that part, getting late for old dogs.:p
The negative arch looks fine to me. I've had mine like that too and still need to get some longer stops myself.

The mounts right now are hitting the wheel wheel so unless you cut the bed a little it won't go any further. Now a different design could possibly do it, not sure though. Moving it closer to the frame, you also risk the bottom of the shock hitting the flip plate. In the pics ^^^you can tell it's kinda close to it.

And if it gets any closer, there isn't enough threads on the other side for a nut to grab. The way it is now, the end of the bolt is flush with the top of the nut.

Now the lower mount could be moved some, but then you risk the bottom of the shock hitting the flip plate, possibly.

I see that now. So aside from all that, how does it ride?

I see you shot yourself in the foot and cut off the stock bump strike plates. Those woulda possibly made it so you could have used the 4.5" bumps easily.

I am surprised the shocks aren't close to bottoming out though. That's cool.

Haven't really been able to find a place to really test it out, but besides that it rides good, everything is new so it rides a little stiff, I think some more weight in the rear would help.

Ya we had to on that one side to replace the steel of the frame, wouldnt be hard to fabricate some though.

Just remembered too that I did take it down a gravel road that would be brutal in my 96 single cab with bilsteins, and I tride to hit every bump I could find and it rode great haha.

Not a very good comparison since I have icon COs in the front of my 98, but its something
