I know I'll get flamed for this, but it makes me wonder......

With 1 inch of lift more on the 2016, a 1 inch spacer doesn't seem so bad. Obviously 5100 set at .85 would be best.

1st mod, if I ever get my truck, will be 1 up tires. It sounds like toyota has made 1 up with no mods very easy on the new 2016 and not bad on the 2nd gen.

Maybe I will just do the 1 up tire first and go from there. My only concern originally was cv boot stress.

Originally I wanted a two inch lift up front. I would be pretty close to that with no mods and a 1 up tire. Well.....this has been good therapy. Looks like I may have answered my own question

hey another newb question -- what's a good way to get a conservative lift of about just 1" (or to be really precise, 1.25") on either the TRD Off-Road or TRD Sport? I won't be crawling, but want to keep my undercarriage from scraping on the crappy forest roads I drive

can you blade the trail so it's smoother? Seriously, not trolling here. lifting 1 inch isn't safe if you need to clear something.

I'm done with spacers and add a leaf, gives up to much of the ride quality on the street and off road. Just a shitty way lift IMO. New coil overs and leaf springs should be considered at a minimum. I did this mistake once with my 05 and then got real thing later. Won't be doing spacers again on my 16, going for the real thing.

It is the cheapest way to lift it though , after spending over $40,000 on the truck .

I was referring to 3" leveling kit... think I can run 275/60/20 with no trimming or should I stick to 55s?
Not a big fan of 20's but I think it will look decent on a lifted 3rd gen

Lifting your suspension wont keep your undercarriage from scraping. The only way to get more clearance under your truck is by running bigger tires. Bumper and rocker panel clearance is a different story.

This is just not true. At all. Doing a suspension lift DOES increase ground clearance. Entry/departure/break-over angles all increase. The ONLY thing that doesn't get lifted is clearance at the rear diff.

Body lifts don't do shit. Suspension lifts definitely create clearance

My point was the clearance of the axles/differentials, etc. I guess I should have worded it differently. I was trying to put it in laymans terms.

Oh and who said anything about body lifts?

He asked about lifting the undercarriage. It does indeed lift the undercarriage. So a 3" suspension lift will accomplish exactly what he's looking to accomplish.

Since your main concern is droop and repetitive extension of shocks. There shouldn't be too much concern when going with extended travel coilovers and shocks correct?

Repetitive full extension of the shocks should be his main concern

I installed a set of Firestone airbags on my 02 to level it when towing my trailer, and other heavy loads. VERY happy with them. Tentatively planning to to the same thing with the 16 TRD Off Road Access cab when I take delivery.
