That's a great buy. This week I went over to the dark side. The Glock 26 was getting too bulky to carry while hiking for me so I picked up a 642 air weight. As long as I only confront one BG at a time, it should be OK.

I loved my prior Glock 23. Just couldn't carry it well and wasn't very accurate with it. Fantastic gun however. You could throw that sucker in mud and it would never get jammed.

My suppressor check was cashed 6/1, approved 9/14, currently fucking waiting on it to arrive from SilencerShop, should have just drove down and picked it up! At first I was told 2 week process, it will be closer to a month before it arrive. Food for though!

got more, but they are rather boring. My Glock 23 was the very first handgun I purchased and still own it. I've owned numerous Glock models and was a huge fan boy until I bought that Sig 1911. Now it's my preferred buddy when I'm out and about.

I'm not interested because I know how discussing political views on the internet goes. Your 'truths' are different than mine, nobody changes anybody's mind, and we both think that the other guy sounds like an idiot.
I'm here to talk guns, not politics. Merely brought it up as a sidebar I thought people might find interesting.

Now, I've got a question for those of you shooting suppressed 9mms; do you notice a worthwhile reduction in noise, or do you still find you're wanting earplugs? My understanding is that suppressors are most effective on subsonic rounds, and probably 95% of the 9mm I see on the shelves is supersonic. But, one of the places I plink (one of my parent's back fields) has got a new set of neighbors that just transplanted from Connecticut and they aren't very happy about the small range my dad and I have back there. So, in the interest of neighborly harmony for my parents I'm considering picking up a threaded barrel for my Glock and getting a suppressor permit. I'm just turning the idea over right now, so this is more idle curiosity than anything. If you still want earplugs when you're shooting there's not much point in my getting one to keep the neighbors happy, since it'd probably still be noisy enough to bother them.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Opinions? Unrelated information?

Yes it will be quieter shooting suppressed. For 9mm you really want to look at 147gr ammo as most of that is subsonic. You can find some 115gr that is subsonic but its usually lower powered stuff.

Is it hearing safe...yes and no IMO. Yes in the sense you can shoot it and wont get the ringing in the ears or anything like that. No because it is still pretty loud (most tests still have it at 130db) so shooting a lot without hearing protection will do damage in the long run. The noise will be MUCH less shooting suppressed vs unsuppressed though and the neighbors might not hear you shooting suppressed (depends how far away they are and stuff).

As for which one to get....look at a 45 caliber can. You can then use it on anything .45 and down. Vs buying a 9mm can you can only use it on 9mm and smaller.

I have plenty of cans now and do my best to shoot suppressed whenever i can, no matter where i am. Less noise is a good thing for my hearing (even with hearing protection) and for the range neighbors (well when its just me there). Id buy a can more for myself than cause of neighbors who just moved there though.

What's a suppressor permit? Suppressed is always worth it. If not for your neighbors, at least for your self!

Sorry, I had to. I wouldn't leave him hanging too long!

Have moved on.....just bought a new wheel gun and considered a 9 mm snub revolver. But they are noisy....The 9mm wheel is made on the .357 frame which means, it is one hot round. IMHO, a longer barrel would benefit more using a surpressor then a shorter one. So, if you have a full size 17 vs a 26 for example, I would consider it. But talk to local retailers with experience to be sure.

Why do you say that? It was a fairly big whitetail doe - fat and healthy. Are you actually a hunter?

Here's me shooting my Glock 19 with a can. All 147 gr 9mm will be subsonic - it doesn't have to be labeled as such. Yes, a 9mm is comfortable to shoot without ear protection. Very fun.

Speaking of Deer this was hit yesterday by a driver when I was coming home. County sent out 2 females deputies to put it down the rookie that had to shoot it was in tears and shaking like a leaf on a tree. I asked her if she wanted me to do it FTO said no she needs to get used to it....

I guess when she trained at the academy they had no silhouettes of deer....just human for live fire practice. She needs to "practice" shooting deer. Otherwise, you don't want a cop that is more comfortable shooting people then deer......
I guess this is typical buck fever.
