I’m I nuts to consider a Tacoma over my current Tundra?

Been thinking of trading my '10 CM, the main reason for me would be ease of use. The Tundra is so huge, mileage does not really matter to me I only have 35k miles on my Tundra. But then again I have my Tundra setup just the way I want it, 5100s on middle setting, RW wheels and tires, bed cover, ect... probably not worth $15k to change to a new Tacoma just to be easier to park.

I'm pretty much in the same position you are. I have a (very nice) 2011 Tundra 4X4 with 15k on it. I also have a an old Jeep Wrangler (Manual). These are my winter toys. I just ordered a White 2016 Tacoma Access Cab TRD Sport 6 Speed Manual. I plan on retiring next year so I'm trading in two for one and getting a little smaller truck. When I bought the Tundra it was the better deal, (3k better). I'm lucky that neither the Truck or Jeep are my daily drivers. Gas milage is not a consideration. As nice as the Tundra is, shifting gears on the old Jeep still makes me smile! I'm sure the new Tacoma will keep the smile on my face.

Tundras and Jeeps must go together, my Jeep is my daily driver.

Sure that is what you get whole driving at 55mph while the truck is in motion. But I would like to know what you get when dividing miles by gas to fill up. If you are always driving highway I bet it is close to manufacturers posted. I would not suggest using this method in the winter if you warm up your vehicle. It will tell you what you are averaging. But during winter you burn as much warming up the vehicle per minute as you would driving it at highway speed.

Going by the on board computer I can get my parents fusion to hit 58 mpg. Which just isn't true

Not trying to call you out but being a realist. 29.5 x 20 gallon tank should yield you 600 miles per tank. Them's diesel #r's

    590 to be exact

Based on the things you've said.....yes, you are crazy.

But do what you want, it's your decision.

Only you know how much money actually matters to you. Only you know if you won't mind eating cat food when you retire.

I like the Tundra over the Tacoma for its motor, that's about it.

As per the OP, he said he changes cars every 1-2 years. Sounds like he's going to trade in his Tundra for something else sooner or later whether that be a Tacoma or not. Not sure what we say really matters to him anyways.

Yes considering MPGs on the Taco can be beat by other full sized trucks.

Buy what you want but I don't see the purpose of spending more for less.
