Suspension Upgrades

Hey guys,

When my truck was stock I've felt as if the TRD Off-Road Shocks absorbed every ditch or bump, once i switched to front only 5100's set at 2.5', and a rear 1.5' block I feel as if instead of absorbing it just bounces off of it. I've heard that eibach springs can really help out. Any other modifications that can be made to atlas get that absorbing feeling back?



P.S. - not looking forward to waste allot of money. Anything around $100-$350 would be my budget.

 

By setting the shock at 2.5 you are preloading the coil resulting in a rough ride. Setting the shock to 0 and using an aftermarket spring to lift will get you a better ride. Eibach or old man emu springs will work.

 

Get some OME 885 or 887 coils and put them in your bilsteins on the lowest setting (0").

 

Would I still have the 2.5 inch front lift? If i lower them to 0' and install the coils?

 

Ome 885 will give 2.5" on a 4x4 DC

Another thing. Do you all think i might need new UCA's if i end up running the full 3' lift? by doing the .85 on 5100 and the coils?

 

Yes you'll need them, but if you want 3" I'd get the 887s rather than setting the shock to 0.85

 

Yeah if you get new coils, set the billies to 0, always. Pick the spring for the height you want. UCAs are advised but not absolutely necessary for anything 2.5 or higher

 

One more thing, then I'm out. You may want to grab a 1/4" top spacer for the driver side to correct "taco lean". The stock springs are side-specific and account for the heavier driver side (battery, gas tank, driver). Aftermarket springs are not. Some trucks have the lean more than others. Mine was bad without the spacer.

This, & you might want to consider OME's over the Eibachs, they're a little softer , I ran

2nd gen. 883#'s on 5100's gave me 3"...
