    Yes.
That's the name of the fire. This is almost exactly the same place that burned in 2011 in the "Bastrop Complex Fire"

SE of Austin along Hwy 71, Past Bastrop on the way toward Smithville

i'm a wildland fire fighter and damn that sucks. always sucks when you can't save people's homes and possensions no matter how hard you try. mother nature can be an unrelenting bitch. sounds like they almost caught it at 300 acres and fire activity increased and they lost control and the thing just started ripping. very sad. hopefully they get in under wraps soon and everybody stays safe

I helped move a pallet of water from the Smithville Community center to a secondary shelter today.

    Found another Ham helping volunteer.

Don't know if it's the sandstone + chrome that makes it look weird, but....I'm just not feeling it. They have a white Sport that I was checking out, also...same thing. Wouldn't keep me from buying one...but it'd keep me from buying sandstone.

PS - didn't post elsewhere 'cause I didn't want to be inundated with the same shit that every other 3rd gen thread sees.

I don't love the front end on the 3rd Gen, but I'm not going to give the truck shit either. It makes more power and torque than my 4.0L. Crawl Control. Projector headlights. A Dashboard designed in this century. In all there's a lot to like.

I like the design of the new trucks. Black the grille and get rid of the lower wind deflector thing on the bumper and give me the sandstone color any day

Sandstone is just an ugly color, that's all. Mag grey all the way.

    Yes.
I went to the Texas Avid Outdoors event in Austin today. And now I'm going to be in debt.

Ethos Off Road Trailers was there. http://www.ethosoffroad.com/
And about 30 seconds after my wife saw the Travois X-1 with the big CVT Roof Top Tent & Annex. She told me "I want it!"

Very nice trailer; but $5k is a lot of money. Hopefully I am getting started on a simple trailer build this winter that will be very similar to those dimensions.

I think certain colors look better with black accents, and others look better with chrome. Sandstone and Inferno, in my opinion, look better with black. Saw a 4R TRD Pro yesterday in Inferno with black badges, that I believe are factory, and it looked badass. The Inferno Tacoma in Round Rock with chrome badges...again, not so much. I wish a 4 Runner made sense for me. I was checking out a Trail and got kinda envious.

What about the 4R does not make sense for you? I recently picked up a 3rd gen 4R for DD use at work and so far it has been a really good choice. I still have access to my Tacoma because my wife is driving it now; but even if I needed a "bed" I could use any number of small trailers I have access to.

The need for a bed. And the small trailer idea actually crossed my mind after posting that. I don't have access to one, but I can't imagine they're too pricey. Hmmmm...

Seems as though dual zone climate control is missing from 4Rs, also. Unless you go Limited.
