Here's the letter that I wrote to Great Lakes:

I purchased a twelver of your Dortmunder Gold Lager tonight. I hadn't had it before and the store was out of sixers so I said F it and took a gamble. Dear lord, if there is one thing that I should not do that thing is to take up gambling as a hobby. I made a BIG MISTAKE!

This beer tastes worse than a sour tangerine passed through the bunghole of an orangutang. It makes Hitler look humane in his use of gas chambers. At least those deaths were as quick as a standard, tried and true suffocation. The impending suicide I will endure due to the shit-ness of this beer will cause me and my loved ones a ridiculous amount of grief and emotional turmoil.

According to the box, the beer should be, "A smooth... ...balance of sweet malt and dry hop flavors." According to my mouth, it was: "A cloying mess of barf-inducing awfulness and sugar infused fruity feces." You may quote me on that.

"As our inaugural flagship brew, Dortmunder Gold is the beer that literally sets our bar." I hope for your sake that this is not the case.

"Dort has won over judges around the world and beer enthusiasts around the corner." I don't know what judges in what world, but I'll try my best to picture an organism with a mouth.

"Keep refrigerated to retain freshest flavor. Dortmunder Gold Lager pares well with salads, fish, chicken and pretty much any social function." I cannot fathom a social function that this would be appropriate for. Honestly, the scene of a genocide would require at least a semi-quaffable beverage.

I really don't know how you twits stay in business. All of your beer is rubbish, you are the worst thing that Lake Erie has to offer. I'd drink oil off the surface of the lake before I'd drink the swill that you advertise as beer. Your only semi decent liquids are the Oktoberfest and the Christmas Ale and I only put those on tap for the fuckwit customers that come in and say, "oooooooh I think I'll have that beer, because it's in season!"

In closing, you beer is bad and you should feel bad. Also, you owe me a Guinness. Thanks for the twelver of undrinkable swill. I will get you in the next life for that you amateur little shitsippers!

    Regards,

    Unsatisfied

...too much? or should I send it?

Haha, only beers ive had from Great Lakes is Blackout Stout and Barrel Aged Backout. Regular was about average, the barrel aged version was probably one of the worst of the style ive had. Maybe they just dont make very good beer?

Which honestly surprised me because people generally speak pretty highly of the 2 beers I tried from them. Also I imagine there is no shortage of awesome beer in their home disrto footprint with the Chicago area and Michigan breweries being fairly close.

I've had them all and you won't be disappointed!Port Brewing and Anderson Valley is impressive!Boulevard out of Kansas is coming into there own in a good way but it's a matter of trying these brews at different time's because they're all different so you should give your taste pallet(throat)an individual session from each beer!Just my bottle cap sense!Haha!
