Got my trail gear double case skid mocked up... Promptly removed it, hangs way lower than I thought. Can't live with it so I have to figure out how to make my own....

Anyone want to buy a dual case skid?

Morning all! This dark for an hour and a half after I wake up shit is taking some getting used to.
Especially after I stay up until almost midnight watching the Pats beat the Colts :woot:
    :pccoffee:

When I was driving 2wd trucks I always just carried a shovel in the back. If I had a hill I couldn't get up I'd pull over, shovel a bunch of snow into the bed, and take another run at the hill. Never got stranded anywhere, even in heavy storms. :notsure:

    FTFY.

We had hail on Saturday and a heavy frost with snow flurries yesterday morning. I was in the garage bolting the Duratracs back onto the truck when it started snowing and I stopped and watched it.
The chickens were hilarious; this batch I just started in the spring and they've never seen snow. They were all running around trying to catch flakes like they were bugs.

Snow took me by surprise this weekend. Helping out the local Lions Club in setting up props for a Haunted Hayride in Sutton. I thought at first it was just stuff blowing off the trees...then the realization that we are no longer in summer hit me.

But luckily its gonna warm up a bit this week. The pellet stove has been running a bit too much for comfort...eating into my 4 ton stockpile already.

    Lol.
I've been running the pellet stove in the evenings and mornings too, but it's so that I don't have to start burning through my wood supply yet, haha!

Well it took me almost a month of weekends and evenings, but I finished putting the Yeti back together on Saturday. Pulled the bed and ran new fuel & brake lines, welded a patch on a crossmember on the frame, fabricated a new fuel filler neck out of some exhaust pipe, wire wheeled and painted the frame with two coats of rustoleum, ran a new exhaust from the cat back, welded two patches into the bed, and bolted it back onto the frame.
Bring it on, Old Man Winter!

Also managed to mangle my thumb in good shape while I was bolted the bed back on. Had a wrench slip while I was pulling at 10/10ths and rammed the knuckle into one of the crossmembers. Oops.

It's a Dodge, probably spends more time apart in the garage than it does on the road

Yeah, it is. It was a base vehicle at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for years, so it had almost zero salt exposure until they sold it. And it's from back when Dodge galvanized all of their body panels, so that helps too. But that's why I painted the frame while I had the bed off, because if I take care of the body it should last a long time. And it's a hell of a work truck/plow truck; if I weight it down and drop it into low gear it'll push snow until it's rolling back onto the hood. That big blizzard that we had last year dumped almost 30 inches of snow (and had 5+ foot heater banks) and I was able to push through like it was nothing.

Hurr. $50 bucks says your Ferd is in the scrap heap long before it hits 30 :D :brianr:

Agreed, but I'll have more miles on my Ferd before it turns 5 than your 30 yr old Dodge :drevil:

Probably also true. It's got less than 80k on it now.

Yep. Like I said, it was a base vehicle at the NAS, so it didn't do a lot of traveling. As near as I can tell from the old registrations that were in the glovebox when I bought it that's original mileage. Plus the odometer doesn't look like it's rolled; the numbers still line up correctly.
