I agree too big with the 4 door cab and full size box. The ford is huge banana that is too big for the city. You see them trying to park then they look way out of place. Live in a little town Ford is home.
Over 5,000 population get the Tacoma.

I think you hit the most important nail right on the head. All of the cars available now adays have a certain rate of failure. At the end of the day what will separate one manufacturer from the next for most people is warranty service. If one dealer is the shits and does terrible on the service side after a car is sold the buyer often feels like that company is crap. The dealers that go ahead and do warranty work that they might not even be technically obligated to give are the ones that make people feel like their car is more reliable.

I live in a town of 8,000 and we drive our Ford to the nearest small city (80,000) and the nearest major city (~2 million). I have no problems in either city parking the F150. The best part is the Aluminum seems to handle door dings much better because it is thicker, slightly more elastic, and more likely to retain it's shape against minor dings. I really hope in the next Tacoma we see some aluminum doors at least.

In general I think Tacoma owners over estimate the difficulties in parking an F150, Ram 1500, or GM full size. Really, once you've had it for a bit, it's not much more difficult than a Tacoma. Both trucks suck in a tight lot with tight spots and will leave you searching for a spot on the outside of the lot in those conditions.

im not telling you to get tundra over f150. get whatever you want. I'm just saying with seeing a trend of problems between american and japanese cars. i would prefer a japanese car.

if it was me, i would stick with japanese cars unless if i needed a big truck like the 2500, or want like a corvette or viper, or the gmc denali, or a nice cadaliac. but i am not gonna go out and buy like a chevy cruz, or malibu, or a small american truck.

and i would say japanese cars have been declining for the past 10 years. if every japanese car was still made in japan, i wold say problems would be less(not non existent, but less)

lets be serious, if i put 3 flat screen tvs in front of you, all 3 are sony. ones made in mexico, one made in us and one made in japan. which one would u choose? I'm choosing the japan one. same thing with the car, they just do stuff better.

take apple for example, designed in california and made in china. wouldn't you feel better if it was designed in california and made in japan??

im not tring to glorify japan but when i buy something, id rather get the better stuff.

for me it's the parts. a car with mostly Japanese parts and made in America is fine by me. I think cheap Chinese parts is what gave American car manufacturers a bad rep not the fact that they were made here.

All three TV's will have their SOC's built in China, so I wouldn't give two shits who screwed the box together. Just being honest.

As a surveyor who runs a company, It is awesome to be able to take 4 full size adults to a project and carry all my equipment in the back. Contractors can say the same thing, landscapers as well. As a company vehicle, the ability to drive people around AND carry a large load in the back is invaluable to me.

There is a larger difference between a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton in both ride and urban utility than there is between a 1/4 ton and a 1/2 ton. Trust me.

IMO Your wrong a 4 door Ford 150 long box is much more of a problem to park.
If your having trouble with door dings and like the Ford because it doesn't dent as easy? Means your truck is maybe too big. Ton of difference
parking a Tacoma vs a full size 4 door long box truck which I wouldn't own unless I owned a ranch too.

If you live in an area like I do where large agricultural equipment and heavy trucks dominate the highways, the visibility and size of an F150 for your family is pretty easy to understand for a people hauler from a safety view point.

Just last year there were two incidents of vehicles sliding through a left hand turn and getting hit by semi's. One was a Honda Accord. The other was an F150. Guess who walked away with there kids alive.... I know that sounds morbid but it's the truth.

No one buys an eight foot box unless you are using it strictly for work. Who would buy an 8 foot box on a personal vehicle .

Even my Ford Focus had a problem with door dings. A foot of width difference doesn't even matter when someone flings their door into your car. People are idiots in parking lots. I'd be willing to bet you are one of those people too.

The regular box supercab and short box supercrew both have roughly the same turning radius as the DCLB Tacoma. The Supercab is about the same size inside as the DC Tacoma. The Supercrew is better if you have family. Here's a picture to show you how similar they really are. BTW, lined up bumper to bumper, I visually can't tell which of these two are shorter.

That's the biggest thing I think people here are missing when they try to justify the Tacoma FOR IN TOWN USE as a much smaller truck. The Tacoma has been the same size as the first generation Tundra and 90's American half tons since 2005. The full size trucks have grown, only width wise, by about 3" on each side. Are there parking spots where the 3" will matter. Sure. I'm not here to say that won't exist. Odd are though if the spot is that tight, in my local malls and other places with large lots, you aren't getting either truck in anyways without some wiggling and door dings over time.

The Tacoma still owns offroad where inches may as well be feet. On road though I never honestly feel like "jeez, we should of brought the Tacoma because it'd be so much easier to park .

Lol I can't believe people complain about parking. I live with 4 million people who can't park and haven't once had a problem. If you struggle parking a full size maybe it's time to start biking or walking :p

Exactly. I think a lot of it is the standard, "WHOA, in a full size I'm actually sitting upright, guess I can't fit this shit anywhere my last car/truck could go." Honestly, after a month or two, you learn the difference is very small in everyday driving. Heck, even my wife who came from a Sonata has figured it out.

They are all Sony so it really wouldn't matter. All factories should have the same quality control and they all come with the same warranty. Sony wouldn't let production be all over the place or they wouldn't still be in business.

No. I care about overall quality. I have no facts or evidence to believe one country is inherently better at producing Apple products than another.
