    Hello all,
@ramonortiz55 and I thought we would start something a little different. This is a thread for any gruesome stories with accompanying gruesome photos to go with it.

    RULES:

    1. This must be something that happened to you or someone you were with. No photos off the internet. No one cares that you know how to use the search function.

    2. Photo(s) must accompany your story.

This idea has been ran by @tcBob, so we have the green light unless anyone starts whining.

    cats-animals-kittens-background.jpg

I’ll start. Last year me and a couple buddies hiked up to Moonlight Lake out of Lake Sabrina up by Mammoth Mtn. CA. On the second day, in a pass above the lake, my buddy put his hand down on a boulder to get a quick breather. The boulder gave way, he fell backwards and the boulder rolled over his arm.

The wound was tied up using a shirt and the shoelace that sometimes accompanies jogging pants.

He took it like a champ. Hiked down about 1000 feet of boulder field, then 6 miles out to the cars where we took him straight to the emergency room. He got 36 stitches, lost a bunch of blood, and had a few fractures to various bones on his arm, shoulder and chest.
This experience taught me two things. ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings in the mountains, and always go overkill on first aid…MacGyvering is not fun in an "oh shit" situation.

    Bring on the gore!!!

Yeah, I've seen a few bad accidents. I was about 20 minutes out from seeing a bolt blow through a guys neck/jaw but the last think I would be thinking is "picture time!" I know that one's from the emergency room but that's pretty much the only pictures that will likely be here. BTW the guy even lived to tell the tale if you want to hear the story.

You always have to have pictures, or it didn't happen! But yeah, the last thing that was on my mind on the trail was taking a picture.

Buddy slid off a foot peg with sandals on starting his bike. Literally ripped his calf open. Not a cut a tear.
